If this was addressed to me, I don't believe in reincarnation. I believe we only get one life and it's up to us to live that life in the way that makes us happiest. I feel happiest when I know I have just pushed myself to the very edges of reality and even to the point when I break my own sanity for a period of time. It is my belief that, only by reaching these places in your mind will a person realize what his/her true purpose is and find their own definition of happiness and fulfillment. In the end it is all about individual fulfillment and self-realization, regardless of the psychological consequences. If you don't know how far you can push your mind and what is at the far reaches of your mind, you don't really know what life is about. That's how I feel.

This thread is full of dumbshit asshattery of the most dubious nature. This thread exists because of asshats. Size XXXL asshats.

"Permafried" by OP's definition is the state of mind I am in. I do not deny my funk. I embrace the funk in all that I do.

By the more widely accepted idea of 'permafried,' no, you don't want to be so fucked up that smoking crack in alleys with bums and sharing dope through needles with strangers is 'normal.' So fucked up that you can't write other than scribbles or even talk coherently. That's just idiotic if anybody ever wanted to be like that.

One of my good friends has licked puddles out of his palm and chomped quarter sheets of tear and share before 2000. He is pretty normal, more normal and intelligent than most people I meet actually.

One of my favorite posts in this thread was the one about having to get high for work and school cause that's where the brainwashing happens. ROFL. Just start hitting the rock now man they'll never be able to brainwash you if you don't have a brain.

    Five stars.

That should be the end of the thread, and it's about time.

    Sigged bahahaha

Perhaps you could elaborate on your 'state of mind', or the funk which you embrace. Maybe that will shed some light on what it's like (I'm secretly just curious)

because i am not a god, nor am i a geneticist of greater working knowlege than those on the earth today.

man i agree with your idea of pushing to the boundries, but to me it only makes it worth it if you get back home.

again i want to highlight the difference between what can be learnt from experiences (and then applied to all future experiences), and being in an experience indefinately.

personally i think that this thread has been skewed by the term permafried, it is a word ive only heard on the internet and tends to have negative implications. while the use of defining words independantly for a discussion can be practical, in a setting where people come from all over the world and have no way of clarifying while interpreting, the use of the word permafried in this context is ridiculous. clearly everyone sees the term differently.

First of all I have come to realize the concept of impermanence. Few people actually realize this concept; to know what impermanence is does not mean you realize it. You have to do all that you do with this philosophy carefully woven into your personality. This is the first step to freeing your mind. Soon your ass will follow.

Once upon a time when I explained this to a very tense friend of mine, he just didn't get it. His response was that me and my other funky friend were basically saying that "we don't give a fuck about anything," which would be apathy. This is not being apathetic.

To embrace your funk, the funk that is every human's nature, is to be an individual but also at one with all; to be both cosmic and earthly, primitive yet sophisticated. It's tough to paint a picture that has so many colors, but I think you get the idea.

I've found that most people that I come across in the east coast usa, deny their funk to the fullest. Most often without even realizing. For these people it is difficult to come to terms with the funk because they have been so vehemently taught since childhood to be a certain way that is not characteristic of the natural funky self.

How does this fit into the thread topic?

To a degree, certain drugs can help you to break free of your social constraints and move closer towards full-on funkiness, but shit can get out of control pretty quickly. You can't be funky if you're smoking crack with whores in abandoned buildings and robbing liquor stores to catch another five minute high. Then you're just fucked up.

    Without opening your door,
you can know the whole world.
    Without looking out your window,
you can understand the way of the Tao.

    The more knowledge you seek,
    the less you will understand.

    The Master understands without leaving,
    sees clearly without looking,
    accomplishes much without doing anything.

    :) haha...

    ok.

one more time. to clarify. again. i do not want to destroy my brain. i do not want to always be high. i am not looking for the easy way to enlightenment. it is not all about drugs. i want to keep the state of mind, flow of new thoughts, and open eyes after the chemicals are gone. since this thread turned into a debate about what it means to BE "permafried", lets throw out that word. we'll never agree on it's definition.

i'm not trying to escape the "real world", since the "real world" is entirely objective, and not made fact by impossible statistics. i believe i am as much of a god as anyone, nothing is more or less godly than me. i believe god is who we are when we are being our thoughts manifested in our interpretation of reality. i believe our purpose in life/our lives is to be that person as often as possible, until we are nothing but. the times when i have felt the border between my thoughts and my world disintegrate the most were when i was on drugs, or in the week or weeks after (other times were when i had finished a good book, when i achieved something i had been working hard for, or when i had no idea what i would be doing or where i would be in the next half hour, times like that). but it always seems to fade. i know people who have never "come down". those are the people i consider "permafried", although that word is pretty stupid :).

and here's a little secret... there is more than one "game" to play in our society, and there are many more societies to be a part of. you don't need to get your diploma, go to college, get a career, buy a house, get married, have a golden retriever and two kids, watch NBC until you rot, and be buried in a cemetary. cliche example, but that's the point. there is so much more than that.

anyway. i think most of us are kind of burnt out on this topic...? thanks to all of you, i really appreciate every single one of your posts :). they're all intelligent and helpful. keep talking if you have something to say.

There's no "easy" way to 'enlightenment.' Laziness is a disease, and all you goddam lazies should be taken to a desert island and shot. In the balls. Ok I'm just kidding but the first sentence is true.

One of my best friends has tripped lots and lots and lots of times. Chewed lots of sheets... and he is completely normal. Actually, he's one of the most intelligent people I know. I think some people just get stuck in "trip-land"... if you realize you are on a drug, and that you are trippin', you'll come out okay. And even if you dont.... you probably learned something from the experience, right?

Everything you do in life you will learn something from. Going to the extreme limit has opened my eyes to a lot of different things, things that if I was sane, and sober, I would not have realized. I am a better person because I have tripped on LSD, mushrooms, peyote, etc.. I know, that probably sounds cliche, and no one probably believes me, but I think I am a better person, I treat people better, because I feel that I understand them better. (That was a really long run-on sentence) All because I went to the brink. Once you know your limit, you know your limit and what NOT to do. Give it a try. Just be careful, and happy tripping!

ok, im gonna get the whole "your too young to understand anything" treatment and i know it, but i agree with prism...i think. my description of that state is just thinking on a different plane then other people, if that makes sense to you guys.

being a dumb-ass isnt being on another plane or if it was it would be a very inferior one.
i guess an example could be that you can use chems, and they can either get you to a
    higher conciousness
more and more in the middle
    lower conciousness
