Of course, but government and State are not synonymous. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State What anarchism proposes is a community based, direct democratic, non-heirarchical system of governance with a (at least for most left wing anarchists) socialist economy(sort of like the EZLN model). for more info on what anarchism does and doesnt stand for: FAQS (please make sticky) to discuss or criticize the merits of anarchism outside of this spammers thread:
First off then why not say you support communal direct democracy then. I don't think you could keep coruption down enough in a direct democracy. Do you know how much data you would have to handle constantly without it being tampered with? Another problem would be the working class would kill the investment class. The whole economy would stagnate in uneffectiveness and lack of investment. The working class would have no jobs after a couple of decades. No thanks. I like capitalism, you work for what you have. Investment brings jobs for the masses and standards of living are very high.
Because that style of government has a name: anarchism http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&defl=en&q=define:Anarchism&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title I think it's been shown that the more exclusive government is the more it tends to become corrupt, the more democratic and open it becomes the less corrupt. mutualism (economic theory). That's what i see. Of course others could disagree, but i find that the majority of anarchists(being anti-state) abhor the welfare-state and encourage work and fair compensation for that work. Imagine a proletarian without work, imagine a proletarian with work, the former is homeless and starving and the latter lives on a minimum wage. What a life to the majority of the people, what a life each of these individual have to undergo. Capitalism is turning all of us into paupers, the lucky ones who work are in constant fear of losing it, the unlucky ones are in constant fear of brute survival. They employ you when they need you and dump you in times of surplus. The pay you the lowest wages when they need you and you starve if they don’t need you. This is the true face of capitalism; it is a very ugly system that destroys humanity and nature around the clock till oblivion. The only way out of this desperate situation is a social revolution to liberate us from the yoke of capitalism and its lackeys. We need an anarchic revolution to free us from the capitalists, as long as they are in power we shell suffer. The revolution will topple them down and eliminate those positions, i.e., the elimination of capitalism and the state. Try and live in capitalism without money or work, you cannot, you die. And since capitalism is everywhere you have no choice but to serve it if you can to survive and you will be very unlucky if you could not, i.e., you will have a short life of despair. Therefore only an anarchic revolution can guarantee to all the billions of the poor people, a permanent abundance and a permanent freedom. Only an anarcho-individualist communist revolution on a massive scale will guarantee all of us an interesting and labor free life, where we determine how we want to live and not the bloody capitalists. Capitalism kills love and kindness, capitalism kills everything that is beautiful in the world, capitalism kills life and nature and the absurdity of it all, is that all this killing is just for the mere greed of more profit. Anarchy is the exact opposite of capitalism.
But that is exactly what happens every day in western society. We, in the United States especially, have become the victims of the capitalist/socialist police state. Anytime any politician advocates social change in the United States, It always takes the form of "the poor are to blame" regardless of the issue. In my area, they attack farmers, lower class landowners, anyone who lives in a mobile home (stereotypical poor in the southeast), and anyone else who doesn't fit the socialist / capitalist mold. I believe Anarchy could be the right mechanism to institute a much needed social change in favor of the lower class. While I disagree with spartacus on several points, I agree with him on several others, but one thing is certain- It will take the education of those who are uneducated in the principles of social class warfare in order to improve the plight of the lower classes.
They own the water we drink, they own the food we eat, they own the rooms where we sleep, they own the entertainment we swallow, i.e., they own everything and everyone who owns not. Soon will be paying for the oxygen we breath and for the waking on a pavement, this means that if you are not born into this class your life is doomed for an eternal torment here on earth and now. To pay them for everything you are paying them to survive, you are forced to work all of your life if you are lucky. If you are born without money you are going to suffer all of your life and eventually become either a legal or illegal criminal. In power or in prison, lick the rich people asses or live a life of poverty, disease and despair, capitalism aggravates all these antagonistic conflicts, a nega-process that leads to a fatally absurd terminal. I am not a Jew therefore there is no Chanukah I am not a Christian therefore there is no Christmas I am not a Muslim therefore there is no Aladkha I am not a Nationalist therefore there is no country I am not a Capitalist therefore there is no business I am not an Idealist therefore there is no dialectics I am an Anarchist therefore I am free The Revolution Is Here To Stay
Well said. We are a social class nation. You have to be born into the upper classes to survive. The capitalists tell the people that America is the kind of nation were the little man can rise to the heights of prosperity, but in reality, nothing could be further from the truth. Seeing things for what they really are, seeing the people who will never escape poverty, my conclusion is that the capitalists just say those things to appease the masses, to make them think they have hope, but all the while exploit them in the name of the system. I certainly hope so.
My whole life is dedicated to starting an anarchist revolution to bring up a communist society based on peace and ruled with respect, rather than a government. Capitalism is run by greed. Corporations will do anything to put the people into groups so that they are easier to sell to. For example, many tv shows and music groups in the media mainstream put out this idea than young adolecent males, like myself, want nothing more than sex. This is not true, but is becoming true because teens have a need to fit in with anything, even if it is some tv show. This ends up with naked chicks all over the place. I am fine with public nudity, but in my opinion naked or near naked people shouldn't be on tv to get people to buy stuff. Its just screwed up...... Woo...that felt good!
It only takes a single voice. So if you are truly anarchistic then believe in yourself and battle on, just don't ask me to join your pointless battle. And how can one be both anarchistic and communistic in theory? Please explain. Some new hybrid?
Why is it that no one with any experience with the subject they try to expound upon are writing their comments here? Too many morons are expecting to lure people into debates about anarchy, revolution, leftist movements and they have nothing, ab-so-bloody-lutely NOTHING of experience to back up ANYTHING they claim to support. They only movements they seem to have had is still in their shitters! Well welcome to losers-ville.
Im all for communal anarchy, ever read the 1.23 of communisim written by the freedom press in 1929? good read though its not likely that its ever going to happen in a large scale... this diversion of matter....so who picks who gets to live where? who gets to keep there house and who moves into an apartment? or should we burn it down then build new ones..... what the hell? I would love this world to be better, equall, but theres not enough people who want it....they like there "comfortable lives" there will be no revolution....its too bad I would love to see it though
Quit making excuses and get a job. All you are is some lazy motherfucker who thinks they're too smart to work. Get off your ass and get a job and put some initiative into this time loser.
I've never heard of the 123 of communism. Where can I get a copy? BTW, I disagree about the revolution. I wouldn't say it will never happen. It will occur if and when enough people stand up and decide they want it. You are right about the comfortable lives, though. That's the main reason more people are not taking to the streets right now.
spartacus, just wanted to let you know in case you didn't see it or whatever, I sent you a PM last night. If you could look that over and consider the proposition for political activism I laid out, I would appreciate it. Hope to hear from you soon, thanks.
Government is the management or the control of something. Anarchy is the absence of any formal system of control (government) in a society. The goal of education should be to provide our kids with the ability to self-govern individual and social behavior in a way that reflects the true nature of our being. The ONLY way for kids to realize their true nature is to know Mother Nature. Everything essential in life is arises from this sacred relationship. Education in America teaches competition, capitalism and monotheism. There is NO separation between government and religion in America. Monotheism defines a hierarchical bureaucracy and our government is one. Nature is taught as a resource to be owned …to be exploited. Our “I’s” are blind to our natural interdependence.
Hey Spartacus, you should come back to the hipforums, man. We miss you over here. We need more of your philosophy around here to spread the word.
Here's something I posted on another forum: Communism Would Suck Whenever I think about what it would be like to live in a Communist country, I feel physically sick. I'm a hard working and intelligent person, and I don't want to live in a world where that benefits everybody else except me. I don't want to be treated the same as people around me, who slack off and don't perform as well as I do. When I work, I want to reap rewards proportionate to my individual efforts. Likewise, if somebody works harder than me, or has better ideas, or is more ambitious, I don't want to leech from the rewards they're entitled to. I want the freedom to use my rewards as I see fit. I don't want the state telling me I'll get X amount of food, or X amount of clothing. I want to decide for myself how much food I buy, and I want to choose what kind of food I eat. It would be an administrative nightmare for a state to keep a track of the kind of food everybody wants to eat, so everybody would be given the same thing. If I decide I want to buy extra food one week to throw a party for friends, then I want the freedom to do so. If I decide to go on a diet, I want to be able to eat less food without sacrificing my entitlement. After taking care of the essentials, I (more often than not) have some money left over to use as I see fit. If I want to spend money on my hobbies, then so be it. If I decide to put money away for my future, then thats ok too. Not so in a Communist society. How would I be able to do the things that I want to do? Will the state provide me with the requested luxuries? I doubt it. They would probably choose which hobbies I will "enjoy" (if any) for me. Say I wanted to go and visit my friends in Hong Kong. I can afford to visit every couple of years or so now. How will I visit in a Communist state? Will the state give me free passage to Hong Kong? I doubt it. What will I do when I arrive? I'd have no money to spend on food etc. How will the state take care of visitors from abroad? If my friends come to see me, will the state give me more food to feed them with, or do they get their own allowance? Somehow I doubt that will happen. If I have children, I want them to lead an easier life than me. If I save money, I can leave it to them when I die. They can choose to use it however they want. That wouldn't happen in a Communist society. I wouldn't be able to put something aside for a rainy day. If I use less than I produce, other members of society will take (steal) it from me. If they use more than than they produce, society will reward them. Hardly fair. So far it seems like Communism is about making everybody equally miserable. Communism isn't about living, its about surviving - merely getting by with nothing extra to enjoy. What kind of job would I get? Can I choose anything I want, or would the state pick for me (enslave me)? If I was working, and I noticed my colleagues don't work as hard as I do, what can I do about it? Would I get any special benefits for it, or would I still receive the same allowance of food? If I was a farmer (for example), and I noticed that a neighbouring country was in need of my skills and could offer a better quality of life, I would choose to emigrate there. How would the state convince me to stay? Imagine all farmers have the same ideas as me, and choose the same path. Bare in mind its a human right to change your nationality. What's the solution? What would the state do if nobody wanted to do certain "dirty" jobs? Forced labour is a breach of human rights. What about the army? What if people don't feel the benefits of joining the army outweigh the risk of death? Another thing I wonder about, is if Communists in my country are actually poor. If they have food, clothing, shelter, etc. then they're not poor (not being rich is not the same as being poor). If Communists can easily afford their essentials, do they give the rest of their money to people who don't? Do Communists invite the homeless to live with them? Does sharing the wealth only apply to people better off than you? If so, where is the line drawn? At what point would a Communist with spare cash begin using it to help the needy? Do Communists own any DVD's or video games? Do they wear brand name clothing? Can they honestly say they are suffering? What alternatives have they tried? Have they tried studying, or looking for another job? Have they chosen a profession which doesn't pay well, just because they like it? Shouldn't they lead by example? I have so much freedom right now, even on a mediocre wage. I'm not prepared to give that up for anything. I'll never support Communism, and I'll oppose it whenever I can. I choose freedom of choice, and being an individual, to being a poor drone working for the state.
Excellent quote, man. Ignore these capitalist aliens that say you are not making sense, and don't let them get to you. I'm right with you. arty: Precisely, thanks. Except the chaos does not need to be organized, so the government has served its purpose and must now be gotten rid of... Aye, mate, not happening, for this be them free speech forums. :jester: The part you didn't mention is that it wouldn't be needed in the first place, for everything would be available to everyone. Aye, but you are a poor drone working for the state, no matter where you are, as long as there is capitalism... VIVA LA REVOLUTION!
