Nontheless, prescription drugs are constantly being taken off of the market because they have caused harm, or have even proven to be deadly. Over-abusing something as simple as Tylenol can ruin your liver. The body honestly was not made to take man-made chemicals, nor was is it made to take chemicals from every single plant.

No, prescription drugs are RARELY taken off the market. I stock over 1500 different drug products in my pharmacy. Hundreds of them are novel compounds that have been introduced within the last 10 years, and several of those are "blockbuster" drugs, with huge sales and excellent safety and efficacy profiles. I can only think of a handful drugs pulled off the market in recent years. More toys or car parts or food gets recalled in one month than the amount of drugs recalled in my entire career. Despite the recent hype, our drug supply & approval process is very safe.

I assume you are referring to Vioxx...which is really a great drug, relatively safe, and should not have been taken off the market. I see many patients suffering now that Vioxx is not available. While Vioxx can, in some people, increase the risk of adverse coronary events, this increase would not be seen if we didn't already have clogged arteries from eating hot dogs and french fries as staple groceries...

Tylenol is FAR from simple...it has a fairly complex mechanism of action. I encourage you to not get health information from the nightly news, talk to a professional.

One also has to wonder, if we aren't supposed to consume drugs, why does our body come equipped with receptors, at least for some of them (eg opiates). I would agree with you that "over-abusing," which I interpret as abusing and/or over-using, is not a healthy decision.

i think things would be ok if people didnt abuse them and pop like 10 pills at once. your body can handle certain things, but only so much. if you're going to take pills, at least find out exactly what you're taking, side effects, dangers, and dosage.

also, chill with the flamming. some people just havnt matured enough or know enough to really be able to have an intelligent conversation with. just try to use a little bit of sense when you post and you should be ok, kitaro and balko.

So alot of views on Adder/OC and abuse and addiction. This is what people dont get. Ok me for instance, 10+ years ago put me on Valium I took it as prescribed for months>> I was and Still Am at this point not only ADDICTED only I am DEPENDANT just as anyone who takes a controlled substance over time daily abuse or no abuse you ARE Addicted and Dependant even taking as prescribed over so many days depending on the controlled substance.

Adderal and OC are both schedule 2 - which is the highest available without being expermental and are at the top of all being the highest risk of abuse and dependance. I'm on both and am dependant.

So a person who uses one of the 3 above for recreational use once in a while has less a chance of being chemacally dependant than someone prescibed daily and not using as recreational and not abusing in binges.

I am not saying go out and eat pills to anyone only kids are chemecally dependant on prescription amphetamines already if taking daily over time. If it were not so, the Doctor would not taper the kids off the meds.

If you think your not dependant just stop taking for about 3 days and it aint the flu you got it is dt's. I have no desire to go off my 'maitnance doses'

I know I can't spell or grammer, I aint flamin'. I barely care about my self so I am not preaching do what you want I dont give a shit just know what your in to.

    Peace
