Not really. It's actually ridiculously frustrating to know that everyone around you is dumber than you are. This is part of why I post on these forums. There are some truly intelligent people over here, and it's much easier to get into a good discussion on here when I feel like discussing something than in real life.
Its true - there are some truly intelligent people here. But I dont really come here for intelligent discussions.
i go around, listening to a bunch of people thinking and attempting to rationalize actions of just going in with a few bombers and the problem would be solved. yea, the US bombing everywhere would solve all problems in the world for us.
Brave, do you know the Camus quote? Actually, I think Flannery O'Connor stories are best concerning that particular affliction.
Bombing sure is the easy way out. To be honest though, I at times wish that Israel would just bomb the shit out of Gaza after ordering all the civilians out so that the militants stop killing innocent Israeli civilians... so I kinda understand the appeal.
we can do a lot more...i was just pointing out what i listen to on a daily basis at my school. it makes sense, being its a military school and all...but its just really fucking dumb
Forgot it. Red had it as a sig. Please don't take offense, but it goes along the lines that many idiots share the notion they are more intelligent than others. It's very grumpy. That's why I'd prefer Flannery on that issue. All her stories deal with presumption as a theme. Yet, it's not like, some people are great and aren't presumptuous. NO. Basically, everyone is presumptious in her stories, and her characters gain insight from being confronted with their presumption in situations of adversity. That is when they regain their innocence.
Makes sense. I do not think that being more intelligent than others is a good thing. A lot of pointless unjustified suffering, anger, and disappointment with the world comes with intelligence. I find that all of the truly intelligent people I meet, including myself, are actually trying to escape from their intelligence and obtain pure simplicity.
There are different ways of being intelligent. I can relate to the feeling that I'm sorrounded by dummies. But I've come to the conclusion the issue has nothing to do with my intelligence or people's lack thereof at all.
Yeah, "intelligent" is a very broad term, but I think that you know in which context I'm using it. What is your conclusion then? Are people equally intelligent, while some just choose to remain closed minded and ignorant? Is intelligence just a trivial concept of its time? There are so many paths. I don't think that I'm better than anyone else because I'm smarter than them, or that I deserve more... it's just frustrating to live in such a goddamn dumb world.
A lot more ? I knew you were scary... But honestly, if I knew my county was being bombarded tomorrow, I wouldnt feel scared at all.
Yeah, I don't put conceptual intelligence in a pedestal. I think emotional intelligence is at least as valueable and a very different thing. I also think our bodies are just as precious as our minds. As for people...Are they equal? No. They are all in cacophonously different developmental paths and have different strengths and weaknesses. It's pointless to attribute a value-judgement to something as complex as a human being.
