You mean like how Spain was obligated too? They folded like a cheap lawn chair when they were subjected to terrorist attacks.

As would 80% of the other welfare countries we carry in NATO.

You have a very broad definition of what a military is.
A military organization is a professional body of soldiers authorized to use deadly force and organized and directed by a sovereign nation, not a militia, or a social organization, or vigilante group.

The command structure of NATO defers from the U.N. or a normal assemblage of nations in that the chain of command is set up so that they directly support the alliance as a whole and it is a permanent set up, not one made up at the time of the formation of a coalition.
NATO has a governing body, a civilian Secretary General, an Allied Command Operations center consisting of land, air, and navel components, Allied Command Transformation operation, Rapid Deployment Corps, an Airborne Early Warning Force, a Joint Warfare Center, Joint Force Training Center, Joint Analysis and Lessons Learned Center, and an Undersea Research Center; among other arms and operations.

These units and centers are located in the U.S., Poland, Italy, Germany, Britain, Turkey, Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Belgium, Norway, Romania, Canada, Denmark, etc.

Here's just the military structure as of 1989...excluding the civilian structure. This is a permanent structure unlike the KKK.

Same as the KKK because they call each other Sir and play army occasionally, I guess.

Spain joined in 1992. It is the 7th largest contributor to the general fund and its military budget is 8th highest.
Alejandro Alvargonzález is the third highest ranking man in NATO.
