I wish my little sister could come post here.

She came out to my parents a year ago. They were shitty about it and told her she couldn't be gay in public (hand holding, etc) because of what people would think of them (they're pastors). She promptly moved out right before she turned 17, and soon regretted it. There were times when she had no food to eat for days and slept on the couch in her drug addicted friend's apartment.

Parents almost always make their kids lives hell. It's what parents do.

 

What I did at 17 when I wanted out,,, joined the army! Ya it was cool. I was an ammunition tech first and hated it and then went air defense tech and loved it but the uniform thing got to me after a while so at the five year point I left it, was married during my first year in there and then left him at year nine of marriage. It was all good in that it taught me lots about myself, got me my own job and roof over my head instantly even if it was a barraks first but in all reality I didn't care much for being told what to do but did well with it. They taught me all I needed to know about the outside world with travel, and training courses all the time and how to live with, share with, and support my co workers. the best party of my life (was allowed to drink once I got in) and don't regret one bit of it.
Would I do that again? Nope! But in another life time maybe but next time I will prove myself and do like my dad, 33 years at it with a trade he truly loved and an awesome retirement plan to walk out with.

1st time I ran away, age 15 like I said in the other post in here, I went from Florida to Monroe, Louisiana..I ended up in a half way house in Shreveport for a couple weeks and then they bussed me back home to Florida..
2nd time, about a month later, still 15, I walked about 40 miles in a couple days cause I didnt want to hitchhike..got picked up by the cops and spent a few days in a runaway shelter and then they shipped me back home..
3rd time, now just barely 16, I ended up moving in with some guys from Peru, working at Mcdonalds and a restuarant called delights..I crashed a car, fleed from the police, 8, ended up in juvy then a plantantion house for troubled kids for a couple months..next thing I knew my parents and the court were pushing me to go in the Army, no high school diploma and at age 17 years 10 days I was in Basic training at Ft Benning, GA..
My dad was an alcoholic control freak, I wanted out, plus I was naturally adventurous, so I didnt care what happened, I just went for it..

I ran away for a night at 14, stayed in the stairway of my friends apartment building because I was afraid her mom would just take me back home and later found out her mom woulda let me stay when I told them about it. Then next morning I returned home and all wasn't so bad after all, compared to that stairway anyway.

I ran away with my sister and our friend when we were about 6 or so and we planned to live in Central Park not far from our house, the homeless and freaks scared us so we headed home and parents found us heading home in the dark, wasn't a good night for any of us. hahahahaha.
That was just an adventure kind of thing we wanted to do.

Sister and I ran away in Saskatchewan when we were about 4. Sister was found right away, me,,, I walked and walked, trying to get to my dads work and fell asleep in a farmers field and was bitten by bugs so badly by the time they found me, four hours later that they felt sorry for me and I didn't get punished for it, hahahahahahaha. Yay for bugs!
Now that I look back at it all I was quite the runner, hee hee

 

well, what I meant was counseling to deal with how you are going to relate to your parents and what your living situation is going to be, rather than counseling for their marriage.
