Wtf Derek? () Haha.... whatever you say. Should I have the same exact attitude about everything while I'm a teenager? Should I just not grow up at all? But hey, you just keep playing your music, because music matters and all....... Anywho.... this thread was pretty cool for a while. You're welcome, Syra. "Its all in good fun." Obviously most of you have no military experience. I suppose you could call it brainwashing, and obviously they "brainwashed" me a bit, as they do all recruits, but comments like "killing terrorists is all in good fun" are seen as evidence that you are an extremely motivated soldier, and extremely motivated soldiers like myself will make Sergeant in less than a year and a half. And that's kind of the point of me being in the Army. For those of you who have no knowledge of how the military works, I don't expect you to understand. For everyone who knows me, do know that I've found something I've become completely enveloped in and it just keeps getting better and better. I'm doing something that matters and I love it. The Army will never grow old and Soldiers are always needed. Sure, I joined for reasons that had nothing to do with the Iraq war - college money, didn't want to find a job - and the Army molded me into a man with a purpose in life. I didn't sacrifice any part of my personality, though a few will not believe so, I just became the Army, which is what every Soldier should become. Though I've come to find that sadly most do not. And that is why 3 or 4 years from now I'm going to become a Drill Sergeant. :H I leave for Ft. Hood in 6 days.... oh yeah! And damn Spencer, I never knew about any of that. I hope you're doing alright. Thank you to everyone who supports the troops and wishes me well...really, thank you. There may be some parts of the war you don't agree with, but it is a war that must be fought, and a war that must be fought by us. We are the world's remaining superpower whether people like it or not.
^ hummm, nothing can change your mind, you live in your reality, I live in mine... but for the few little things we know about our existence, why would you waste it on killing others and fighting for a war that's completely hit a brick wall. You can't change certain ways of life, the world will never live from democracy and liberty, values cannot be swallowed down other's throats, especially when your own country doesn't follow what they preach... war is power, wether they say its for liberty and for the women and children, they lied to us from the very start, if you look back at what father Bush did to try and get the nation to agree in going to war in Iraq, you'll learn all about how they hired advertisement agencies to hit the population's emotions, and today's war has followed the same principles... And i dont wanna sound like a prick, but you're a prick "and the Army molded me into a man with a purpose in life. I didn't sacrifice any part of my personality, though a few will not believe so, I just became the Army, which is what every Soldier should become. Though I've come to find that sadly most do not. And that is why 3 or 4 years from now I'm going to become a Drill Sergeant." army is your religion, you're lost... and what do you do, you join something you have faith in, illusionary? doesn't matter, you seek happiness, power and a feeling of being right from your little fake plastic adventure in the army. Religious terrorists is the synonym of the american army... both have beliefs, both are fighting for something they find right... and you know... its good to have faith in something, but when you shove it in other people's bodies you're just telling them you know more about the fuckin world. so stop acting like a big guy there and realize no one has a perfect grip on reality. And if you really needed education money there's millions of ways to find that if you really want to, bullshit that the army opens every door... you just have to get off your lazy ass and do something. I dont mind people's beliefs, as long as they don't depend on the destruction of others. But when it comes to the Army and killing lives... people who are probably lost just like you, when it comes to the most negative actions a human being can naturally do, that's when I start to have a problem with people... and you're a dangerous person to the world. that picture of you in the tank describes perfectly how you've hit rock bottom, one goal solidly marked in your head, and sadly it might as well possibly be your last, although I hope not, you deserve to exist as much as anyone else, but you're not acting like it All im asking, for everyone, and mostly you, is to not go in Iraq.
it wasn't so long ago chuck himself was wishing that everyone who signed up for this war were, themselves shot. not to say either side is right, but one should certainly argue that the irony inherent in that is a valuable lesson. this entire thread, the ideas behind it, are fraught with irony, and anyone who has been around long enough to have seen it's construction should examine it for the wisdom it may offer. and I am surprised at that, I expect you to know that it doesn't take balls to go to war, for some people it even takes balls not to go to war, it takes a situation, or it takes a shift in ones thought pattern, or any number of things, the motherfuckers who actually understand what they are getting into? they are not excited, they are older body or soul, and they are the ones with balls. alright then, you want someone who understands how the military works? you've fucking got it your bootcamp, they will put you into pairs, and those pairs will be in a family group, you will be encouraged to bond as family, and this unit will go to iraq with you why? because the urge to protect family is the strongest urge that the army can harness to get you to override your hesitance to kill another human being, that is manipulation. you have been sold that if you are a motivated soldier you will be up to sargeant in a year and a half? do you understand that a motivated soldier is a soldier who is the moron who follows orders blindly? who volunteers for everything, even when operational tempo has kept him from having sleep in seventy two hours? have you ever aimed an assault rifle after 72 hours of no sleep? it REALLY sucks, you are shaking, your body isn't metabolizing energy properly, you can't see straight, and your gun feels about three to five times heavier than it was when you strapped it on three days ago you are very much a motivated sycophant now, mister toy soldier, but, lets be honest with ourselves, how long can you keep that up? the people you will be competing against will include people who can keep it up near indefinitly, because they had a different circumstance growing up than you did, because soldiers come from poor backgrounds, maybe some of the guys in your unit are used to 8 hours in the sun picking fucking asparagus, and have been since they were 12 years old you are behind softie, and to catch up, it is going to take a whole lotta blood. and THAT is under the best of circumstances, without people wanting to kill you, and doing it in ways that you can't even imagine with your current mindset, next time you are walking through town, look at every face, look at every cardboard box, dumpster, every trashcan, newspaper vending machine, every stray paperbag on the side of the road any of those could be a bomb where you are going, and could be a VERY well built bomb, because, lets be honest, those 3000+ deaths, have been great practice for the people who you are dealing with, you are going in fresh, yes, with training, but there is no training that can restructure your brain to behave in that primative predator prey fashion a soldiers needs to, and will by the end of your tour if you are at all prepared to learn from your experiences. then of course there is all the stress, combat stress wears people down fast, some people deal with it really well, some people get really angry, and it makes a lot of sense for it to do so. staying motivated, that one and a half year bullshit? it's a pipe dream. good luck, don't get shot, and don't trade your soul <if you haven't already> but don't delude yourself either, look at reality, talk to veterans, people who have done this shit, look at how the army works. stay vigilant, ask the vets in your area of operations, the folks coming off your patrol for any and all advice they offer, and fucking take it, bring a fucking notebook if you have to, just get all the information you can down. and chuck, make sure what you are doing is worth it, because, man, you will be asked to do horrible things, and the only way to be a motivated soldier, is to turn off the part of yourself that cares that they are horrible a motivated soldier really BELIEVES that killing iraqi's is all in good fun, not because they don't like iraqi's, but because they have been ordered to, soldiers are orders, warriors think for themselves, you do not want to be a warrior. and to anyone who wonders what the fuck authority I have to be talking on this subject? my family has a lot of military personnel lurking, I spend time over at the VA hospital talking to fresh guys, and old timers, even though war abhors me, I still need to understand it, it is a creature that must be known to be tamed, and eventually made extinct.
The only side that's right is the side not fighting. i.e. the innocents our BRAVE HERO AMERICA FUCK YEAH NASCAR MCDONALDS YEEHAW soldiers are raping and slaughtering.
I should also mention our space as an imperial power is slipping, russia made territorial claims, that IS an imperial move, and china is also making moves towards being imperial, they are challengers my friends, and the propaganda paste that chuck has been fed (for the sake of making him more willing to take risks, yeah, I know, I know) is a line, china has been building their navy by leaps and bounds since 98, and russia has been getting some really nice new toys too...
this is one of the main reasons why i did not sign those contract papers. clarify something, i go to a senior military college - was on the track to being a 2nd Lt in the Army. Before that, i was planning on enlisting in the Marine Corps. so yes, i know how it works, i know how the bonding experience is. some of it is good. some...very bad. my honor will not be broken by going into an unjust war based on lies. its not honorable to follow without thinking - its not honorable to say killing people is all in good fun to be motivating. but i did buy into everything that was said. "its all in good fun" and blah blah blah blah fucking blah. i bought into that whole mentality of being a soldier. then i learned for myself by really looking into how it operates because i was sidelined wiht a knee injury. i learned its BS. it dehumanizes people to say "its all in good fun." whatever though, this is your choice, your fate you chose to follow. i don't wish you any harm, nor do i wish you to cause any harm to another human while over there.
as some of you know, my husband is currently in iraq. before he deployed he was compassionate, understanding, i was actually able to talk to him. He deployed last October, He will return in December. The change that has happened to Joey is tremendous. I don't even recognize that man when I talk to him. I think the one thing that chuck has going for him, is that he's going to iraq with no attachments (that we are aware of at least). He isn't leaving a wife and child behind. For my husband it was and still is hard on him knowing that he cant wake up in peace with his family. He doesnt get much sleep b/c of the mortars going off or IED's and the Sgts waking him up to task him out to do some bullshit detail. He works with the Iraqi Police out there at the IP station, and he has seen some things that he won't tell me about but whatever he has seen....has permanantly effected him. Going off to Iraq doesnt just effect the soldier, it effects the family as well. Even if it is just your parents. Your life out there is so enveloped in stress and fear that pretty soon you cant see the sunny side of life. you cant think straight, you cant remember what it was like to hug someone, to eat american food, to sleep in a comfortable bed, to have a full nights sleep, to have a conversation that isnt built around the military. Then if you're there too long, you even start to fear coming home. You're so ready to come home yet you're afraid of what will happen. Yes, it was Joey's choice to join the Army but now he sees what its really all about. It's not some game you play like you did when you were kids. Good guys vs bad guys. It's reality now and you cant just quit and come inside when it gets dark. You continue on with it, long after the sun goes down. Long after you begin to lose your mind. We've been over there for awhile now, not much has been accomplished. And it's been said that it will be a long time before anything is accomplished. Yes, chuck it bothers me when i see you say things that profess your excitement to go over there. I've seen what happens to people who go over there. I've heard the personal stories of my chain of command about what it's like. I've been to one too many ceremonies in which we were recognizing our fallen soldiers from Joeys Brigade...I sat there crying over men I never knew. I sat there watching as the families huddled together crying over their lost son, grandson, husband, daddy, brother...its hard man. I think about all the "what if"..What if that was my husband, what if that was Sophias daddy? It effects you and others around you. So chuck, even tho you say you've found something you love doing, just realize that there are people who care about you, who just dont see you doing this with the same eyes as you do. It's scary. It's reality. It's hard. It's overwhelming. anyway, i hope you do okay out there. maybe you will. who knows. good luck.
He's going to go over there with this attitude and then his spirit will be CRUSHED. I'm going to laugh if he comes back and we see what he's like.
Working as a drill sergeant sounds like no fun to me really. I personally also don't get what the fact that America's the last superpower has to do with it, even if I'd found that's true. Does that mean the U.S. should mind every other country's business?
it's not, the wording used, "last superpower" will never be true, "only superpower at present" isn't even true.
Many people who gravitate towards the military (as well as politics and the police force) have a sociopathic personality. Many of them only care about moving up in rank to attain more power, forsaking any moral judgment if they even had any to begin with. Why would anyone want to be a drill sergeant (or a soldier... period) unless they feel some deviant need to exercise their authority over other people? This is how pathocracies work, and you can follow it from the little psychopaths (the grunts) at the bottom, who only think they're part of the system, to the big-name psychopaths at the top, who lose no sleep ordering the slaughter of countless thousands. It's all about stepping on others to get ahead, and this is what the military is about. You're not supposed to think, you're supposed to do what you're told asking no questions. People who can think for themselves and have a sense of moral judgment will find that they don't get very far in rank, as advancement entails ruthlessness and disregard for all human life. It never fails to boggle my mind how killing an innocent person in your own country, wearing plain clothes, makes you a ruthless, cold-blooded murderer... but if you put on a uniform and go overseas and kill people you've never met, you're considered a hero. The people who go over to fight these wars of rich men (most of whom have never seen a day of battle in their lives) are made to think that the "enemy" is less of a human being than they are. But of course these "enemies" are no more enemies than the people who are over there IN THEIR COUNTRY, so a few rich men at the top can further an agenda, which in the end will turn around to bite us all in the ass. There seems to be a mantra of "support the troops," but how can any intelligent and moral person support the killing of others in the name of an agenda that has nothing to do with what the public has been told? That's why I honestly cannot feel much sympathy for those who are injured in the process of serving a corrupt system that is killing people in the name of the lies and mass mind control which most of the public is under. Most of these young kids going off to fight and die in these wars have no clue about anything other than what has been indoctrinated into them by movies and video games. They are living in an illusionary John Wayne movie world, as is much of the public in general. Because you HAVE to be brainwashed to believe most of the nonsense that's being pushed on us through the TV and radio. Most of these kids have no idea that they're going off to fight an "enemy" that was funded and created by the same government that's sending them off to die fighting them. Much of the public is under such mind control that they cannot see the unthinkable is happening.
this "soldier" is a friend who came on a forum (which, by the way, person who said something about whining, used to be called "young hippies" which is irrelevant because it was actually just a forum that a bunch of us used to go on a lot) where he has friends who he i guess thought he could talk to without getting the third degree from a bunch of assholes who dont even know him but are quick to judge.. now i'm not saying i agree with what he's doing or not but the point is he's a person and a friend and everyone should be supportive that he comes back with his life and his sanity, despite what you know about him.
Well apparently he thought wrong... And if you really believe his intent was simply to tell his friends thats bs. This thing spells controversy from the beginning. Also that's bullshit if you think I should support a person's welfare and sanity unconditionally because he is a "friend" to someone else. What about all the unarmed "friends" he's about to kill with all of his weapons?
lol fallacious arguments : "hes a friend, we must love him and respect his decisions" "you dont know him. so shut up" dont say anything if you're to use this kind of garbage. no one's dumb and destructive actions can be valid if they're a friend or if you know them... that's an argument based on emotions and therefore is not valid, everyone in the world has friends, george bush, soldiers, killers, pedophiles... but i guess if u were to wake up tomorrow befriending george bush and a few pedophiles their actions would be ok, they just need all the help they need. pfff
Good luck my brother. At least you have the balls to stand up for what you believe. Most of these assholes that judge you wouldn't know anything about actually taking action on their beliefs. And when you get back and one of these spineless maggots gives you shit, shake his hand... and then wink at his girl because she knows she's dating a pussy. Be careful, shoot straight and shoot first.
I have more respect for those assholes you say, who refuse to believe and put their whole existence in the meaning of something conceptual or materialistic, than those that must absolutely find something to believe in to get them back on track. Everyone loses themselves one time or another in life... they have the choice, to believe and put their lives in the hand of one thing in specific, or to keep doubting... And honestly, Ive been lost, Ive hit rock bottom, I could've become a proud catholic, but it seemed to easy, to have chosen to doubt even more I find, takes more balls... so before you assume something else out of your ass like that, hold it in, for the respect of people's choices in life.
ahahahah that is soooo fucking lame. i do have balls to stand up for what i believe in - i do have balls to stand by an honor code i sworn to live by 5 years ago. this war was built on lies and i will not support nor give way to it in lieu of my oath to that honor code i choose to live by.
