elections are won by the lowest common denominator, if you dumb down the populace all sorts of stupid things happen since they are too darned stupid to think for themselves, its kind of like a man who starts digging a hole whilst standing in a hole and finally looking around and upwards asks himself "how did i get here"? though there will be some men who would even deny they are standing in a very deep and dark hole and if they dig deep enough they'll be sure to strike air soon enough (because its just a transitional period).

problem is israel has got itself in a hole, the far right wing is out breeding the secular populace. when the fundamentalists get into power they send the secular jews to die for greater israel and the religious jews to yeshiva (sure some of them will die in army service but these are necessary casualties and there are always more coming thanks to the birth rate) when money from the religious nuts reaches washington before you know it you have a full scale invasion of territory regarded by the religious nuts as greater israel.

I have to welcome ForOwls here... you've certainly contributed to a spirited debate and while I couldn't disagree more with much of what you've posted I like that you've refrained for the most part from attacking those of us opposed to your stance.

I'm not particularly well informed-- at least not enough to be an equal in debate. I'm not sure what useful agenda is served by posting things that can only cause hesitation and doubt in the mind of someone who has already made up his mind that he will be deployed to a combat zone. His life as well as those around him may well depend on his unwavering belief and faith in something that I may not personally share. The only appropriate response I can make in this thread is to wish him well... and to save my arguments for the policymakers who I believe to be in error.

I need to read up before I start attacking something I don't fully understand. My instinct says that the truth isn't fully in either camp but somewhere in the middle.

you didn't fight for that right, unless you fought back in the revolutionary war. i'm sorry, but that line is BS nowadays. our way of life has not been in any way diminished by those terrorists. i don't buy it.

we have that right because we choose to continue to use it. not because our forces are over occupying another nation.
