Of course... actually the vast majority of the Time.

You are aware there are major differences between

"just say what your thinking" v. "elaborating on your thoughts"?

Are you requesting I dumb down my Thinking/ writing?
    The answer's no.

    Elevate your Game... *L*

Would it even be possible to dumb down your writing?[IMG]

Anyhow while ones intent in killing does not matter in a vacuume, neither do we live in a vacuume. It is very simplistic to look at any number of similar acts and say "well one significant result is the same across the board, therefore they are all identical". Killing for food and killing for kicks do have the same result insofar as an animal died, but that is by no means the full scoope of the act. For one, killing for kicks has no place in the natural workings of the ecosystem. Killing wild animals for food does have a place and a rather important one at that. If, for example, nothing in the wild ever killed anything anything else to eat the entire ecosystem would wither and die. This is not to say that any one human hunting cow elk is necessary to the contiuned health of the ecosystem, but that a human hunting cow elk has a natural place in the ecosystem. A humaning kill animals for kicks has no such place.

We can also look at what took place after the animal was killed. If it was killed for kicks then it was probably left to rot. If it was killed for food then it went to sustain other creatures. The non-meat bits of the animal have their uses too for course, but not if it is left lying around rotting.

So yeah, the two acts are identical only if you analise the result of there being a dead animal and chose to ignore everything else.

EDIT: And not wanting to eat tons of nasty chemicals is a legitimate concern.

well, i realized he was just trying to defend you. i appreciate his passion. he has, however, taken too much enjoyment in petty slaps at me before so that has somewhat colored my perceptions of him. i'm glad you've internalized the incident, instead of blowing it off completely. it's very sensitive of you.

it's a world of difference. both are natural acts committed with entirely different consequences. one did not burden the conscience, the other did. i am a predator, but unlike my cats, i don't pursue and kill ONLY for the fun of it. there's a deep spiritual satisfaction involved as well, whereas your friend's kill provided a spiritual burden. though, in the grand scheme of things, both did ULTIMATELY serve a valuable purpose.

Things people do in their younger years don't always mean they are disturbed.

My boyfriend used to go out to ponds and kill frogs when he was around 16 and now he feels horribly bad about it and he is a vegan and would never hurt any animal nowadays, not even an insect.

People do stupid things, it doesn't always make them a bad person.

he did explain how bad he felt and that he's never done it again. but i understand the short attention span problem when threads get this long. so you're forgiven.

did you know that innummerable people kill/main/torture small things before they reach adulthood and never ever become serial killers? would you call a cat evil? they kill for fun and practice, too. the only difference is that when humans get older, they usually begin to understand the concept of deliberate cruelty and torture being wrong. it's like trying teenagers as adults for murder. it's not right. their brains aren't fully formed yet.
