I live in Canada and I want to say

The only way that weed is bad for the environment is because of the dumbasses who go out into protected forests, cut down a bunch of trees and plant life, and pollute the place, while growing their pot. They do this as a result of it being illegal! I believe that what they are doing is wrong, but if pot is legal, it will be grown just like anything else, and not cause problems.

I also agree with this statment wholeheartedly. If you just don't care, then let those of us who have informed themselves about the pros/cons, etc. of ALL campaigners(not just those with enough money to advertise) make the decisions of politics for them.

I've been growing pot out in the woods for over 35 years and also worked for The U.S. Forest Service for decades, and I've seen fist-hand what some pot growers do to the land.
Cut down 500-year old manzanita tree's, overdose with pesticides/herbicides/fertilizers (which pollutes the soil AND water), leaves heaps of trash, kill local wildlife, and injure innocent people with booby-traps.
I once had to help a man restrain his 10-year old daughter from tearing out the fish hooks that became embedded in her scalp when she went into the bushes to pee during a family hike.
Whenever my friends in the Forest Service found a grow (by accident, we rarely went out looking for them), if the grow was neat, with min. damage to the environment, we'd Let It Be. If we found trash and shit, we'd rip it up.
And if we found booby-traps, we'd stake out the grow and bust the grower next time he showed up.
We busted the asshole who strung fishing line with fish hooks in it (it was at the level to take out the eyes of an adult) and he got 8 years in jail.

But as an earlier poster said, the reason people grow in the woods is because it's illegal.

At least the cutting of old growth and the traps would be gotten rid of it pot was legal. As for the chemicals, thats a problem with most crops and farming it seems. People need to respect the land, no matter what they're doing =(

Not to mention the soil in canada is so fucked from all the drout n shit. 2 or 3 years ago in alberta we had like 2 or 3 days where it rained in the whole summer...one farmer actually shot himself because he had no clue how he was gonna make money for the winter. Not to mention global warming, people dumping trash all over the place, dumping old gasoline or such chemicle right into the ground because thier too fuckin lazy to find a safer way to dispose of it(and I dont think we have any way of actually disposing of chemicles without harming our enviornment). And then they bitch about smoking bans and shit because they can smell it, while they couldnt give 2 shits about the carbon monoxide or other chemicles in the air from cars, spraying arosal, covering your fuckin hair with 3 layers of hair spray in the morning etc; Also drunken idiot teens who are dumb enough to start fires and think they can put it out when later it gets out of control and burns down half a forest...shiiit. lol. marijuana is your least concern about our earth you asshole.

 

What? ya look...I'm sorry but when I get home from a day of waiting tables and dealing with assholes I like to load a bowl in my bubbler, spark it up, and forget. If you don't cool but chill with the soil shit.
1. It grows naturally in a lot of places.
2. Alot of people that grow it themselves which would be who you would have to be blaming for the soil plant it on their own freakin property so who cares.
3. The world is being killed by lots of shit and I think that although theres progress legalization of weed in a lot of parts is far away.
