now don't just look at that superficially, take that thought apart


if we were default good, even default neutral, why would we admire goodness? if we were default good it would just be run of the mill, boiler plate, standard, we could always make the easy choice, if humanity were default good the easy choice the easy descision, the descision that was easier to make would always be the higher one morally

if you really think about this, really examine this I don't think you will find that the right choice, the good choice, the choice that makes the world better, is the easy one

as for neutral there really isn't such a thing, you can say "well the creature did as much good as evil" but the creature still did evil, it still had motivation for doing evil, it still also had motivation for doing good


there are certain places where greyscale just doesn't happen, we like to lie to ourselves and say it works, but it doesn't this mythical neutral is the best we can ever hope to achieve and it's only through cultural taboo, humiliation, the weakening of human will and threat of incarceration and death


not that these controls are a bad thing, we need them to prevent utter chaos





but think about it, you could take groups of people and isolate them in any scenario you wished for a period of time that was long enough for them to get used to their surroundings, one of the few constants would be evil

now I'll say that people who are weak of will (not weak minded because there have been some truly brilliant evil minds) are usually those who become evil, but that is simply because they do not have the will or inclination to evade their baser nature


this is not essentially saying that all good people are strong willed, though that certainly helps

it does perhaps say that if you are weak willed and good you may have less reason to be evil, or your deviation toward evil is within the cultural norm

people are just basically evil

if a person completly relaxed, completly unleashed everything that they were unleashed their deapest desires and everything upon the world they would be acting in an evil manner

everyone has darker impulses that is just part of who they are, for some people their darker impulse is tripping a guy at school, for others it's forging a perfect scything and reaping those who they deam to be excessivly burdomsome to exist, still others much more horrifyingly (imo, maybe I'm wrong, maybe they scythe guy is the most fucked up, but there is no person on this earth who hasn't wanted to hurt someone, there are however a whole shit load who can't even conscider rape,* it's just beyond their present capacity for evil, I believe that anyone is capable of sinking to that level, I'll bet that if it suddenly became socially acceptable a shit load of people would drop to that level instantly)

germans who were totally good guys heard orders from their superior officer and suddenly they can drop zyclon b on women and children without a question, now I'm sorry but I would die before I'd do that, but a whole fuck load of conscripts decided it was a better idea to follow orders than to think about killing women and children

and actually I'm trying to break it down into bite size bits, I find if I can get a person to accept one small piece of logic, reason or likewise usually I can get more to follow

unfortunatly people tend to stonewall because once debates start neither side wants to change their opinion


you can look at nations murder rates, their rape rates, their domestic violence rates, their child molestation rates, the numbers of people starving aroun d the world, knowing all these things could be fixed if people would just choose not to be evil, if even 51% of humanity started thinking for themselves and decided not to support evil any more all of it could be fixed


can you realize that, truly realize that, not just hear that, but realize that and stil l think people are inherently good?

if more than half of the population were willing to give up all evil, willing to sacrifice of themselves, they would easily wipe out evil

but it won't, because people are inherently evil

the majority of people are evil because that is their baser nature
