Yep. I went to a little stone farm house, ate sweet maries, fudge puddles and drank wine while listening to Nathan Rogers play for about 50 people and 2 dogs. Nice guy. Even got pulled out of the ditch by a tractor. I am so Canadian. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZiF_zZpRiE
It sounds alright. Not really my cup of tea. Sounds like he has a strong voice, though. Reminds me a bit of Gordon Lightfoot.
He did indeed. He kept going back into the plane to pull people out, and went back one too many. Died a hero, I guess. His son was very nice. Gosh, he sounds like his dad. Sang a couple of his songs, including the North West Passage. I was the first to arrive at the farmhouse, so I got a chance to chit-chat and talk about folk music, his life, etc. I had some good news today about my little brother who's on tour for 7 weeks. Dale Penner, the guy who produced Nickelback I guess, went to one of their shows and then invited them into his studio the other day. Would be pretty exciting for my brother, even if nothing comes of it, ya know? Would be great to spend time a studio like that. You like Stan Rogers do you, Matt?
What? I'm surprised with that statement Brad. You like Stompin' Tom, Gordon Lightfood don't you? Well, Nathan and Stan were born and raised in Hamilton anyway.
I haven't heard a lot of his music, but I am not very big into the Canadian folk sound, aside from some of Gordon Lightfoot's songs. It all sounds alike after a while. I am not even a huge fan of folk music outside of Dylan, Cohen, Fairport Convention, The Byrds, etc. A lot of the acoustic singer-songwriter folk puts me to sleep.
I only like Gordos songs when someone else does them...and Im biased towards stompin Tom because he wrote a song about my town
I never liked Cohen either until I saw a real good show where a bunch of others covered his songs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MDlMdu2gjw
That's from the Cohen documentary I'm Your Man. I went to see it at the theaters a few years ago and didn't care for it at all. I didn't think the covers were very good. Plus, I cannot stand Bono.
Best music I ever saw on pbs was the concert for George Harrison...In fact I think Im gonna search torrents right now so I can watch it again
