I heard my first Grateful Dead song three days ago. It blew my mind.

    haha yeah.

and Id definately say The Rolling Stones are more overrated than Then Dead, i mean they had a few fantastic songs, and sure theyve lasted through 4 decades but as musicians theyre so overrated

yeah, you should spend all your time on a computer.
Tours (note the present tense) are a great way to get out of your rut and get some new perspective...or at least a ripping jam.

My ToG story: 198-something, i'm singing with this cover and originals band and we are performing a benefit show to get blankets, coats, warm hats and canned food for teh local shelter.
I remember sound check and I remember the house lights going to "doors."
Then I woke up in a hospital. Heart attack.
The next day I'm released and my friends drop me in my car, start it up and flip on the radio: Touch of Grey.
Been a fave song ever since, and I picked on In the Dark before.

I'm really obsessive with my songs in that they look good on paper, not just in the song. I'm wierd like that.

why does everyone get all wound up about this? just listen to what you like and don't get pissed at others because they don't like it... i personelly like the dead and other jam bands because they go further then just the studio song. i used to love the beatles but after listening to all there stuff, the 3-4 minute songs get really old, really fast. a live beatles show has no real interest. i really don't think that jam bands really inspired themselfs from the beatles, more from jazz, the rock scene and general and the whole SF scene. i think that the beatles got more from the psycadelic scene then the psycadelic scene got from the beatles. just my opinion...
i'm happy that you found a new band to listen to woodstock child.
