Just read this (dont know Exactly how true it is ) But !!

British Steel Scunthorpe has gone into liquidation today.
The U.K. government is banned ( by EU LAW ) from even LENDING the £30 million it needed to stay afloat .

The U.K. government today sent £55 million to Brussels, as it does EVERY SINGLE DAY we stay in the EU.

Some of that money is used to create jobs and subsidise industries in the EU.
British Steel, last month, paid the EU £100 MILLION in “CARBON TAX”.

There is a worldwide surplus of steel right now. This was created by China.
Try to get your head round this fact ...
LAST YEAR .. China produced more steel in one year than the U.K. has produced in it’s entire history of steel making.
    ITS ENTIRE HISTORY !!!

Recently the FRENCH government used 300 MILLION EUROS to prop up its ailing steel producers.

Thing is that this is a bit more complex and nuanced than you present it.

    First up –

British Steel has blamed Brexit for the squeeze on its finances, adding to the pressure on the government ahead of European elections on Thursday. Union sources said British Steel had lost 25% of orders at its Scunthorpe plant because of Brexit uncertainty. EU buyers would have to pay tariffs of 20% on British Steel’s products if the UK left without a deal.

    *

“Under a scheme to support large industrial users the business department has paid out between €20m and €50m (£18m and £44m) to British Steel since the start of 2017.”

Theresa May told parliament on Wednesday the Treasury had “agreed an indemnity for the official receiver to enable British Steel to continue to operate in the immediate future”…. The government declined to give details of the size of the indemnity offered.

The government was forced to give British Steel a £120m loan at the start of May when it faced a large bill for EU carbon emissions credits, after the company sold its own allowances.

Can’t find any mention of this can you say where you got this from?

[edit] I did find this ‘France gave between £17.5million and £44million to the ArcelorMittal steel’.

Which is exactly what the UK government gave to British Steel

    *

It has to be remembered that neoliberalism does not think of ‘old’ heavy industry as a priority and neoliberal leaning governments have been lacklustre in giving them support or have actively tried to kill them (like coal mining). That is why the UK has not really had a manufacturing policy for about 40 years, unlike many other European countries that see heavy industry as a vital part of their economies. Also for many right wing government the workers in heavy industries have traditionally been Labour Party supporters and so their interests were of little interest to the Conservative Party. The gradual running down of such industries have in main been ignored and many places where they are based have become depressed and in fact the major beneficiaries of EU development funding.

It is those sort of instances which have made me want to vote for THE BREXIT PARTY TODAY Mal.
Just that steel story alone is enough to make me mad over the useless bureaucratic EU.

Off out shortly to make a vote for SANITY.

    MEANINGLESS means MEANINGLESS

LOL come on man you have basically admitted you don’t have a clue what you are on about

But everything seems to point to the deal we have been a good deal and everything else is worse – something you don’t agree with BUT don’t dispute.

Yes you want to sodomise the remainers, fuck them over, fuck them up, wish them harm – thing is that I feel sorry for them, I don’t wish them harm, but many of the people that want to leave are going to be the worst effected by leaving.

I would just like to know why they want to do this harm to my country and my child – thing is that many like you don’t seem to have a clue.

Which makes those that want to remain and can explain why the unpatriotic as you’ve said the traitors and what have people usually done to traitors?

    MEANINGLESS means MEANINGLESS

In what way is it sane to vote for something that you seem to recognise is likely to hurt you, others and the country?

My money is on thick as a plank, and dim as an LED lightbulb Mal.
One just cannot reason with these people, so I gave up.

Wifey and I went out this morning and cast our two votes for The Brexit Party.
I can now only look forward to the EU results on Sunday.

Be afraid Tory and Labour and all the other parties.
    Be VERY afraid!

LOL of but without the threat of a no deal Brexit there would be no Brexit uncertainty.

The money could be paid/lent now it’s the Tory government that doesn’t want to help – british steel could be nationalised tomorrow and perfectly legally under EU law (I believe the Italians did under similar circumstances just a few years back)– it’s just that would be against right wing neoliberal ideology

The leaders of Brexit are virtually all neoliberals.

We have frictionless, tariff free trade with the EU – but if we pull out without a withdrawal agreement we will be out of the EU and tariffs will come in likely with custom checks.

Are you really so badly informed that you are blaming the EU for what you say you want to bring in?

You ok mate, you know I can’t hold my breath forever?

Do you need more time for your pro-brexit essay or have you realised like so many others that when you actually sit down and try to put it down in a rational and reasonable way that Brexit doesn’t make any sense.

There is a lot of anti-EU propaganda out there pumped out mainly by the wealthy or wealth backed but if it’s actually examined it seldom if ever stand up to scrutiny.

I’m not saying that the EU doesn’t have its faults no system is without its faults but given the UK position the alternatives are worse than what we have.

Anyway, please don’t leave us hanging.

    So then folks.
Today is the day when the EU is voting for MEPs.
The UK of course has already voted last Thursday but any counting of votes cannot start until 10.00PM this evening.
There is a results program on BBC1 form 10.00PM and lasts until 3.00AM, and I am eagerly looking forward to watching it.
I am expecting both Labour and The Conservative Party to get thrashed.
Lib Dems might improve a bit, but of course the big winners with be The Brexit Party who I expect to thrash all of the other parties.
I hope my £25 I paid to be a supporter helps just that little bit for them to do very well indeed.

At 10.00PM I will open a bottle of beer, make myself a sandwich and enjoy the Sunday 26th Massacre.
    Don't worry guys.
Watch this thread as I will fill you all in as the voting is ongoing.

    Below is my sentiments exactly!
