at the end of the day, i just wear what i feel comfortable in and what i think looks nice. it doesn't matter if it is a designer brand or not. it doesn't matter if it costs me £1000000 or £1. if i like it, if it is comfortable, and if i can afford it i will buy it and wear it.

I bought 6 pairs of jeans the other day for $90AU, and now I finally have jeans that aren't hand-me-downs, the only shit thing is that I have to lose some ass to look good in them, dammit!

Im no lover or "hater" to take sides here...but am I missing something? Why's everyone so hard on libertine. He's no worse then many other forum members here....Who have far less to say. I find his opinions good in that they are possibly different from everyones and isn't that what forums and debates are all about? I don't see how he has overly bashed women etc. Ive seen far worse here and no banning for others so what did I miss? I know Ive had problems years ago with members but I was always just told to ignore tehm. Why is this any different?

    I I agree ... BUT
I think libertine tends to make a lot of his 'rant' posts a little too gender biased to be swallowed without scratches to the throat.

I think people would probably be more willing to accept what he said if he acknowledged that guys and girls can BOTH be wnakers, as opposed to mentioning only that girls can be that way.

Yeah although I fint it hard to post anything here without doing that haha its like you have to cover your ass on all sides or people assume the worst...that you hate women ( or whatever the other side of the story is in a case/post) Maybe people could ask the question hay do you dislike women and let him answer...rather then jumping on him right off the bat. I guess I didnt find it offending. Ive seen a lot worse in the womens issues forum people telling others they are bitches and should be raped thats one thing..referring to women as hens does not offend me its mearly a sarcastic remark and I just assume it so because I havent seen him actualy threaten anyone anywhere and I dont see that as a constitution of banning or being very upset about.

Most people could use a cup of happy hehe...even the happy ones. But on the topic of this thread the cup of happy has to come from the inside to validate fully...no bought cup of happy :p

I agree, as I usually do.

Everything you said + vanity... annoy me til no end.

It seems as if -- it's very rare to find any confidence in people. Everyone wants to be someone else, or tries to be different than who they truly are.

I think most teenagers...go through this stage, but it's truly sad when they don't snap out of it.

For maybe... a year, while I was in middle school... I got picked on a lot, and ultimately conformed myself to avoid feeling like shit. When it all boils down: I felt even MORE like shit when I did that, than I ever did being myself and getting snide remarks for it.

After I learned my lesson...I never turned back, not once. I've stayed true to myself, and who I am, no matter what people want to say. I've come to realize, especially through observing some of my superficial/vain friends...that it all goes back to how they feel about themselves. Misery loves company. And sometimes I wish I could just pull a selected few people I know out of this hole, who still haven't gotten out of it after high school. It's sad really...

I still get snide remarks time to time, but it's so much easier to blow off now that I feel comfortable in my skin and who I am.

Everyone has things they would change about themselves... but that's a part of life and everyone needs to wake up and understand that, and embrace their good qualities.

The thing with most people is... when MOST people feel down on themselves, they take it out on others, and make them suffer along with them. That's where I always differed from most of the kids that went to school with me... if I was upset, I blamed no one but myself. And I can HONESTLY say that.

Back as a pre-teen, I felt that... no one would ever accept me for who I was, and that no guy would ever give me a second look because I was so eccentric...
But now, that I have stayed true to myself, through thick and thin... I have to realize that I made MORE friends now than I ever did when I felt uneasy in my skin. Not to mention, the people I encounter now, are people I WANT to associate with...people who love me for me, and not for anything else like status, looks, or whatever.

It wasn't easy going against the grain, but...I feel it paid off. A lot. As for the people who made me feel like hell, I stopped associating with them and gave myself a mental and social makeover. I remain civil with the crowd that picked on me, and tried to warp me into their cult of mindless conformity--- but refuse to ever allow myself to be *friends* with them.

So many people, so many of my true friends...that go through this same dilemma will come to me for advice...and I always tell them "If someone is making you feel like shit, get away. Only YOU have the power to do so."

However, I can't say I take my own advice when it comes to relationships...but that's another story.

If the media is making you feel bad about yourself...dont watch TV, dont look at newstands...etc. If people around you are... get away. Etc.

Attempting to achieve perfection is pointless, and self destructive, and I'm still learning that with a few other aspects of my life.

But I'd have to go all out and say that... trying to be something you aren't is being truly inhumane to no other than yourself.

I honestly get really sad when I see people like this... it makes me feel bad that they can't open their eyes and see how much they are kiling themselves [themselves as a person, not a body]

Naturally, I still get down on myself, and tend to pick out my flaws... but in reality I am generally really content with who I am. And that's all you need.

you DO seem pretty angry, libertine. but that COULD be because no one ever (maybe a few, rarely) actually listens to what your saying. the need to be understood is CONTROLLING you....liberate yourself!!! lol. i'm so full of shit.
