wow. So much hatred. We are in hippyland where love, acceptance, and peace should be core values. I don't understand why some of you are here.

I am a lesbian and for those of you who think it's a choice you are seriously mis-informed. I never chose to be gay, but I am. There is no changing it because if there was I know that at some point I probably would have tried. But I know being straight isn't possible for me (been there, tried that). It's hard for others to understand if they are not homosexual and I understand that. It just isn't a choice. I'm proud to be who I am and I would never change it, even if there was a "cure" as you call it. Though I don't think homosexuality is something that needs to be cured.

I hate how we live in a world that is so full of hate and intolerance for things that are not harming others. Lets fight the real issues here people. Things that really need our attention.

I have no problem with homosexuality, none at all. I beleive not only that you should have the freedom to choose, but that it is nobody elses business what you do in your bedroom. I agree, it is not something that needs to be cured. People are entitled to do whatever makes them happy. Thats what life is all about.

I will admit to being occasionally turned on by the sight or thought of a man. And I would certainly be open to the feeling were I to fall in love with a man. However, as I said before I have never found a man who had those certain qualities that I would expect out of a person with whom I was having a relationship.

However, I will never believe that you are genetically or otherwise, predetermined to be gay. I believe homosexuality IS a choice whether concious or subconcious. I do not believe that there is a "GAY" gene, nor that you are born gay. Though, I may concede on that point in one situation; when a person has a some kind of hormonal imbalance which may cause them to develop some qualities of the opposite sex.

This is certainly my opinion, and my opinion only. I would never expect anybody to completely agree with me. Nor would I ever insist to anyone that this is fact, or has ever been substantiated one way or the other. It is simply a matter of opinion.

@ZenDragon: i wonder if that hormonal imbalance, however slight, determines the persons sexuality... if that is the case, is it not the result of their genes? is there a gay gene or a "gay gene combination? who knows.

does it matter, as long as we are accepting of eachother?
acceptance and respect ARE what matter most.
