"while i'm sure this HAS happened, the combination of menstruation AND negative pregnancy tests (i believe she said she took one one month after the last time she had sex, and a HPT is considered effective long before that) does NOT indicate a likely pregnancy."

she said she took the test two months ago, not after the last time she had sex. i was asking if there was a possibility that she could have gotten pregnant after taking the first test.

Congrats. If the really light, spotty period with pain (that you said is different from regular cramps) keeps happening, I suggest talking to a doctor about what could be going on. It could be nothing, it could be something as easy to fix as not getting enuf of some specific nutrient, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

And, BTW, I didn't mean anything negative in my suggestion that your name relates to pot use, I have nothing against it (within reason), but it can affect your cycle, based on personal experience as well as stuff I've read!

Thats cool, I understand. Hardly anyone on this forum has heard of them though, and one guy on here added me to his msn contacts b/c of my name, thinking i was a heavy pot user lol.
I am so glad that im not pregnant though, I wouldn't know how i'd feel if i was and the baby got Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. I'd never be able to forgive myself.

You know how they say that people who don't have any pregnancy symtoms at all are lucky? Well i dont really think so, 'sepcially if your quite young and like the odd party.

Thanks for all the supportive and um "open" comments. They woke me up a considerable amount and made me realise that i wouldnt be ready to have a child of my own yet. I will in the future take care of my body if i suspect anything similar to this weeks events.

The best idea would be to see a doctor, so you can start taking care of yourself and your baby, if you are pregnant, and you do intend to continue your pregnancy. If you are pregnant and do not want to remain so, taking care of it earlier is better for you, emotionally as well as physically.

I know, when you are unexpectantly pregnant, ignoring it seems to be the easiest thing to do, but if your ARE preg, it is not going to to away.

Please see a doctor, today (there are other tests they can do to confirm preg other than a urine test) and take care of yourself.

she also said it'd been three months since she'd had sex (that may have been in another thread though). but anyway, my point was that people just jump on the pregnancy train on this forum a little crazily :)

i had no way of knowing that it had been three months since she had sex, since it wasn't posted in this thread (if it was, i missed it... sorry) so it was definitely a legitimate question to ask. without asking that question, i couldn't give her a decent answer.

but you're right, people do tend to, "jump on the pregnancy train." the thing is, i guess, people ask if thery could possibly be pregnant... they don't ask if it's likely that they're pregnant.

so without knowing when she last had sex, the best i could say was that it was possible... i couldn't say whether or not it was likely without having asked that question. i wasn't trying to, "jump on the train," i was just trying to gather enough info to give her decent advice.

anyway, if my post offended you, i appologize. it certainly wasn't intended to.

OOOOPS I posted after the fact. Well, I am glad you are not pregnant.

Please be careful. Those types of periods can be indicadive of hormonal problems, so you might want to talk them over with a doctor.

I am really glad you are not pregnant.

it's cool, i wasn't talking to just you or anything, i wouldn't take it personally :) i've just seen thread after thread on the forums about stuff like that, and people always have a story of "a friend" who "didn't know" she was pregnant until she was 8 months along because she never had a positive pregnancy test and had her period and all this stuff, and i think it just kinda unnecessarily freaks people out sometimes!

i'm not offended, i was just making a point :) no worries.

hmmm, man im so either confused or worried. You see, the test i took yesterday came back negitive and i believe that im not pregnant aswell, but what is worrying me is that the area in front of my pelvis is firmer then usual. weird isn't it.
any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again.

8foot, first, i think i might owe you an appology. supernova made me realize that i could have caused you some extra paranoia or worry. hopefully what i said didn't add to your stress, because hightened stress can delay your period, and a delayed period can heighten stress, and it's obviously a nasty cycle. anyway, if i added to your worry, i'm very sorry.

i don't think extra firmness in front of your pelvis would indicate pregnancy. i'm not hip to anatomy, so i'm not sure where the cervix is in relation to your pelvis & the firmness you're feeling... but i do know that within a week of becoming pregnant, the cervix begins to soften. i think this is so that it can expand to accomidate a fetus. perhaps your muscles are just tense from worrying? it might indicate a cyst... from what i understand, they feel firm and cysts can mess with your cycle. i've never had a cyst (hold on, let me knock on some wood...) and i'm no doctor, so take that suggestion with a grain of salt. how large is the firm area? is it painful or uncomfortable? when did you first notice this? i'd recommend drinking some relaxing tea, and soaking in a hot tub for a little while.. maybe even give your pelvis a gentle massage. if it's muscle tension, that might help relieve it, or give you some sort of indication. keep thinking positive thoughts. i hope you're okay!

It's highly unlikely that you are pregnant, considering two neg. tests, and your periods are still coming. If you are truly concerned that something funky is going on with your body, the best thing to do is talk to a doctor. She can answer any questions you have accurately. We here are all just speculating and guessing as what is going on with you. Perhaps its just water retention, ya know...bloating. Good luck, chik, I hope there are no hard feelings...my posts were out of genuine concern for your well being!

Probably is just bloating and all that kinda stuff, i didnt think the extra firmness would indicate pregnancy either. can i ask how cysts are formed?
    Do they just appear?

    Appology accepted lawngirl. :)

it does sound like bloating, that's a good suggestion.

i think a cyst would be accompanied by cramping. maybe a stronger flow, too. i think some are totally normal, and can shrink on their own in a month or two. i don't know if you'd be able to feel a cyst though. i think they're fairly small. maybe you can just rule that out. but does it feel firm when you touch your pelvis (like a wall of firmness in that region, maybe?), or does it feel like there is a tighness/firmness/pressure inside your pelvis, that you can't feel by pushing on it with your hand?

i hope everything works out for you.
