My field is psychology and brain chemistry, horror movies are fine , they are not powerful no matter how gory because and infact it has to be extreemly scary - because of the reasoning conrtext in your brain knows it’s a movie. It only triggers and even then has to be really well constructed such as a build up then scare ( what people call good scary movie) triggers anxiety and increase in blood pressure which is why your heart jumps . Doesn’t also because of the reasoning cortex won’t hold last in memory either. You ever noticed you can,t remember Scene for scene a nightmare on elm street movie ull remember some bits , but like a comedy like friends ull know word for word.

So what you definitely must not try to do to much is if your watching a documentary as soon as you see a real dead body switch off or turn ur head emmediatly. The reasoning cortext deactiactives the chemicals that can if watched to much activate that cause ptsd.

Watching horror movies keeps reasoning Pre frontal cortext intact.

It’s the documentaries u have to watch out for not horror movies are completely fine

You're right I've seen every horror movie out there and I consider myself well adjusted.

Since you’re a psychologists, how are doctors, nurses, homicide detectives, forensic pathologists, combat soldiers, morticians, and such able to cope
with the constant exposure to dead bodies – what’s going on in the brain chemistry that they become passé about the dead.

Because doctors and nurses are trained in the field and know the symptoms and the patient progression to eventual death so the pre frontal cortex reasoning is intact . It’s the shock to the pre frontal reasoning cortex , there is also a hierarchy alpha involved a boss alpha at the top is trained in psychology at top level in medical centres they are strict this alpha mechanism also prevents prefrontal decrease at home the head of the med department would act completly different.

In the army testosterone is massively increased with excessive fitness training and a doubly angry alpha Sargent. Along with training with what to expect for the cortex like nurses. It’s. The shock to the frontal cortex that does it - most ptsd are Vietnam vets set into battle to quickly and Afghan ones leave quickly not knowing its anxiety or not ptsd that sets in when they get home. When they get home I’ll notice Vietnam vets wd ptsd have beards social barrier plus bmi index increases testosterone falls they become sensitive to light > glasses. And stay inside loss off alpha. Pre frontal cortex dissolves rapidly hilininassions > serotonin depletes very fast then the reasoning cortex becomes so reduced that the memories are activated and they think they are still in the war they begin to drink which drops it so much psychosis sets in they are at war still in their mind and everyone is thier enemy. Those that come back from the war not suddenly and keep a gd fitness regime and stay in contact wd the alphas stay off the drink will keep cortex from falling to quick they’ll get headaches as the cortex re adjusts for a while, also in contact wd an alpha Sargent still for a while but eventually they ok to re adjust to life.

I paint my face every year, all day. The 31st means nothing to me, another holiday and all of a sudden face painting is in style but i been doing it ever since Sabrina the teenage Witch was on.. Try to live like this all year though, try pick up a chick when you're painted up like a weirdo.. I'm 31 years old and yeah I still trick or treat and do you think I care? Shit I'm trynna find something to eat. And tell them old ladies keep your pennies.. If it ain't about a quarter, don't even bother. I'm sick of these little kids too I know they did it, put a brick in a bag and hit me in the head with it and then they all stand back and diss look what I got from that weird chick painted up like kiss.. Every year I'm a psycho? I see. But each and every Halloween, they all wanna be me!

as with games, books, movies, what you see once, life usually goes on.
its when you don't see anything else they become the only script you have,
then, that's what becomes a problem.

most people don't have extreme problems from what they see, because they're exposed to a huge diversity of everything else.
precisely why censorship is actually more dangerous then anything its supposed to protect from.

its still, what bothers me though, is this insistence upon associating strangeness with fear.
just because its not the end of the world, doesn't mean that aspect of the concept is such a very good idea.

What I dont understand about halloween is if you are taking candy off a total stranger, how do you know he just isnt a complete bastard and rubbed all the candy in his jockrash area before wrapping them back up and giving them out?

Any responsible parent would go through their kids candy and throw away anything that isn’t tightly sealed by the manufacturer –
And perishable items including Apples (with or without embedded razor blades) are tossed out immediately.
