I was watching people out in new york at election night on the TV... half of the people were 'gangstas'
I was surprised they didn't start shooting people or some bullshit.

    I'm sick of it too.
like, why the fuck is it cool to disrespect people, be violent, and be materialistic? It's like the opposite of me.. and most people on here. 40 years ago, it was popular to be unmaterialisitc, and to be peaceful. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? There's a goddamn 13 year old blonde kid in my class that dresses 'gangsta' another kid in my class sings nothing but rap songs about money and hos.

    I'M SICK OF IT!

I think we should stay away from playing the race card but I do know the people you're talking about. The people who went out to vote just because of the candidate's skin color and then rioted in the streets like their football team won the Super Bowl. But certainly not all black people, just dumb people.

They have no reason to feel better, they have a reason to feel equal.

you never saw 'gangsta' people being all political before... now they all wear obama shirts.
I saw some guy on the tv in baggy pants and some huge shirt and some kind of gold jewlery... and I think grills... freaking jumping around and howling. there's two ways you can react to obamas election... you can be happy that racism has gone down so much in this coutry that african americans can become president, as an emotional thing, or you can just be like YEAAAAAHHH NIGGA FO PREZZ. ugh.

    in new york?
no, I'm just saying I saw the guy on tv.
I'm not saying all 'ghetto' people aren't political, at all. it's an observation
you never saw africans so involved in the election as this one... african voters went up by like, 10% this election. now 30% of the voters were african. and probably just voted for barak because he was african

Meh...as much as I truly despise the "gangsta" (not "gangster") culture, I must admit I've met some very chill people who put on that persona. Some of my friends from way back put on that persona as well, and despite how much it really bothers me, I still consider them my friends and know that they are pretty good genuine people that would have my back in an instance. I don't necessarily blame them for wanting to act like this, it's as though they feel they have to. There's so much of a bombardment on people in general, especially teens to "act a certain way", usually it's in order to sell some kind of product(s) or maintain a "norm" that in turn establishes order through literally mindless followers.

The gangster culture is somewhat of a paradox to me though for that exact reason. That being, this "culture" if you will is being exploited to sell products to, and oh my god does the "gangsta" culture love to buy absolute shit. These "gangstas" often take pride in the fact that they are not like the more "elegant" snobby types, when their basically the pot calling the kettle black. 1. They both buy shit 2. They both flaunt that shit 3. Majority of neither "group" thinks for themselves. Those are all similarities, and "gangstas" are therefore perfect for the States. Most are superficial, easily persuaded (money), virtual advertisements especially the music and they give the government an excuse to bolster police forces, turn a profit of drugs, and keep the people divided.

A+ thread. And no, it's not racist. Anyone that thinks that this thread is racist is not seeing the whole picture. The media has taken THE WORST element of black society, the ghetto so many try to work out of, & made it fashionable. They have taken the violence and anger of a cultural element & fluffed it up with materialism & glorified ignorance to a point where they can get you to buy things with their dumb heads.

You think Bill Cosby's down with all this? Uh, no. The only ho's he knows are Jell-o's.

If I were black & trying to have people take me seriously, all of this would drive me crazy.

They took black folks from the blues (heart music) to rap (anger music), & in doing so degraded a popculture drone-nation.

I haven't, but I certainly don't need to read a book to realize that corporations and the government (two in the same here in the states) want to maintain a "poor class". Society in just about all cases throughout all "civilized" time has been a class struggle. Those on top of the pyramid will do anything to maintain their power, regardless of how inhumane and truly immoral it is.

What I find extremely interesting is the irony present in their system of morals. The "upper class" is always convinced that they are somehow morally superior to not only other classes, but entirely separate societies as well. Despite the fact that their actions speak much louder than their words, their actions being very suppressive, usually promoting racism, inequality, violence etc...to maintain their power. If everyone had capital, or in our modern world "money" then who would be rich? Who would have power? Nobody could consider themselves "better"....and they don't want that. It's a perpetual cycle that will continue so long as man lives in what we call "civilization". (Funny how civilization is often much less "civilized" in a moral sense than those societies "it" has often considered to be "barbaric".)

I don't see the racism in that, I'm not showing any hate towards africans. I'm getting annoyed that 'straight up g's' haven't nessecarily been so involved in politics, or an election before. now between 50-25% of the people I saw on tv celebrating [nothing wrong with celebrating] were 'straight up g's' The number of african voters has gone up by 10% this election. Alls I'm saying is don't vote for someone because of their damn color, vote for them for what they would do for the country.
I mean, what if there was an atheist or a jewish person running for president against a christian. and lets say this christian was as bad as Bush, but the Atheist/Jew [or they could be both] sounds like they could be the best president ever. but people vote for the dumb one just because he's christian.
[just so people know, or already understand, every president has been christian [there was one or two roman catholics] so I used a christian as an example, not saying all christians are dumb]

suprised my post was still active

I really do think the goverment wonts black people to become a burden to themselves and kill each other. Why else make the homes so cheap looking anyways. I wonder if you made the hood look rich would people still glorify it?
