No i'm saying i try to be nice and open minded like yall(< haha i love being from the south) because there are many negative people i know, and i don't want to end up mean to everyone and follow through with hate in my school. And i really would like to cut down the drama by changing my ways and hoping other people do so too. And i'm showing them that if i wear my tiedye i am not vulnearble to be made fun of. they call me a hippie i call them idiots for dressing like one another (american eagle, aeropstal, all that jazz), listening to everything that there soposed "friends" listen to. i am free of that spell. i can wear what i want, i can believe in what i want, i can live how i want! And at least i try to stay to hippy values (nice, open minded, free spirited, caring, etc.. etc..) instead of the fakes who just dress like them and do what everyone else does
Namaste. Labels are just that, Labels. Everyone has a path in life, and only the true self can define that, not the label you identify with. People go through phases in life, it's part of growing up. To truly identify with one particular group and only that one particular group, is to deprive yourself of enrichment, sure we all got our lil crew we hang out with on the regular, but don't look down on someone because they are different, less idealistic, or unsure of themselves (often called posing) and especially don't perpetuate negativity because someone's trying to "break in" to your way of life, people talk about wanting to change the world, to make it a better place, well in order to do that you need to allow people to change, and even though these kids you speak of may not be the embodiment of your value system now, who's to say that in 5 years they won't be? Bottom line, people are people, and in order to progress towards that utopia we all crave, people need to love and care for their fellow man, regardless of labels, only patience and understanding can prevail, feelings of negativity are just extroverting your own ego and insecurities. Infinite blessings kidz. Live in love.
is there such thing as fake hippies i think this thread is promoting absolutes, sure hippy is a good word for when you need to generalize a type of person to explain somthing better, but i think in saying that someone is a hippy or a poser, your are promoting conformity when in actuality (sp?) everyone is their own culture I dont like implying labels to myself or others but sometimes it's just hard to avoid. Let "fake hippies" be fake hippies... so what if they dont gain your respect just let them do whatever they want. You dont have to agree with it or like it, just let them pretend to be hippies or whatever, I'm pretty sure it's not hurting you in any way. And maybe then you can enlighten them with your tolerence The dude that posted right above me said it way better than i did
I am a genuine fake. I tried being a fake fake once but failed miserably because I was just too real being a fake. Speaking of ice cream, motor oil, and silk scarves, why let someone's posing piss you off? You're only empowering them to screw up your mood. No one should have that kind of hold over you. Does their fake hippiness influence who you are? If not then there should be no problem; if so, then isn't the pot calling the kettle black? Anyhoo, I think the next poster will put it best...
labels keep peoples minds numb and dulled so they cant think for themselves or rebel against what just simply isnt right a colour is more beautiful if you don't know its name
or maybe you'll grow tired of it.....what you say is not always right....so dont assume you know everything....life is choice and who are you to say what they are doing is something they shoudl grow out of....dont worry about what others do in their free time.
well.. i dont think i know everything.. thats what you decided to think. I said that for the only reason, that this topic is pretty stupid. hence we cannot judge anything, everyone and every living thing has their own perceptions of things that are wether good or bad.. there are no limits in life. so how about we all be indifferent, and let people live their lives
wow you guys totally changed my opinion on "posers" were not any better because we are laughing at them, bailing on them, etc.... lets just let it be.
* jaw - on - floor * so true. everything is better when nothing is holding it back.red can be scarlet, crimson, cherry, whatever. and the only thing anyone says when they see one of these is," wow, that's red!"
First off, if you had read my further down post, I said I take back the "hate" but dislike it when people label themselves in hopes of looking "cool". I never labeled my self a "hippie" and certainly wouldn't go around labeling myself one. I understand that people just have to be themselves an whatnot, and let's face it, "bohemien" fashion is quite in these days. I was just asking for your opinion in the subject, not your critization of me Much love Lindsay
lol. posting ANY opinion on the internet is an invitation to criticism. don't worry, you'll get used to it. it won't bother you so much next time. anyway, who cares what people wear? if someone isn't a hippy but really likes their skirts, does their lack of "hippiness" mean anything? because if it does, that means that the bohemian look is just another uniform codified by society, and therefore nullifies the whole concept of "hippy" doesn't it?
I didn't bother to read all this, but in response to the original poster--hate is bad, love is good. Love everyone. Be happy.
