anytime you have someone boasting what they are, they normally aren't.

When people say I am a "hippie" i tell them I am not.

Omg! Yeah this one girl thinks shes a hippie because she listens to music from the 60's! It pisses me off. Just be yourself! I am a hippie in my true self. Yeah smoking pot makes you a pothead! Hippies you pot for a good reason.

i never really think of my self as a hippie. I try to act like one, or try to be one but not to be kool(being hippie at my school = freak (thats why i wear tiedye, just to piss them off cause they think i'm one because of my music, and they try to make fun of me for it)), but because you guys are so open minded and love things that aren't much cared for. oh yes, and because you all are very cool, nice people too.

But i do know a couple "poser" hippies. they just dress like hippies, or attempt to at least. really gets me boiling because why would you be something your not and your just trying to be "cool" and not really caring for the real meaning of being a _________ (insert type of group in line)

Saying that they do it to be "cool" but you do it to be "different" and "make them mad" is the same thing essentially. Maybe they are doing to to make you mad which in turn equates the two things you are doing :H

 

no i mean i try to make them mad as in i want them to know i don't care what they think about me so thats why i wear tiedye, i never thought of wearing tiedye untill i was watching some grateful dead music video (TOUCH OF GREY!!! ) and i saw people with tiedye and at the same moment someone on aim called me a crazy hippie ( i wish they would understand the real meaning of hippie 'cause im not one, and yall are cool).

Sorry, I extrapolated that (the different thing) from "I try to do it", "I do it to piss them off", and "being hippie at my school=freak [to them]"...Are you dressing and acting a certian way because that is you, or because you are tryign to get a reaction. It sounds like the latter, and by the sounds of it, it sounds like "hippies" are in the minority of the population of your school, so you are acting that way to be different, so the pople look at you funny so you get that reaction. Hence you are doing it to be different. Comprende?

But sorry, I still think you and the "poseurs" you speak of are basically on the same level...
