A couple of weeks ago I got Sumac. From Ziyad, which specializes in Middle Eastern cuisine. (You know, Dearborn, MI is near my home. And it has the largest Arab American population in the world. And not that it matters. But you know not all Arabs are Muslim. We also have a large population of Chaldeans, who are Christian Arabs, and often persecuted in their homeland.)

I love Arab cuisine. Very simple and very tasty. I also love Hindi cuisine. Very flavorful, and really not too spicy. And don't take this the wrong way. But all Hindi cuisine seems to be some type of mush. But it tastes good, as I said.

I am experimenting with giving my dull food a kick with unique spices and condiments. (I can't eat any amount of sugar. Because I have neuropathy. And sugary food literally makes my feet ache.)

I tried a little of the Sumac today. I have a dull sense of taste and smell. But it tastes bitter to me, and reminds me of bitter coffee. So what is Sumac and how can you use it?
