I got some kid arrested

People have blown this all out of proportion, anyway. Like this kid's life is really down the toilet because he nicked some cigars. Christ, where I live, you wouldn't even get a caution for that, and they get taken off your record after two years.

You could not be further from the truth. They are NOT neutral, the more convictions that they get, the more it enables their personal advancement, and in some places pay grade increases are directly correlated to conviction rates. LEO's most assuredly have a personal stake in arresting someone, they respond in the hopes of a conviction so that they can further their own careers, amongst other more nefarious ideologues. They would rather incarcerate someone than fine them if it is feasible, the prison industry is one of the fastest growing, most reliable industries out there today, they make a killing off of housing inmates. Do you REALLY believe it costs $45,000 a year to house one inmate? More likely its the new preverbial $300 hammer. Not to mention the private sector.......I could go on but I don't want to stray to far off topic here.

That's a ridiculous comparison, I never said that I would FORCE someone to work for me, I simply stated that ONE alternative to calling the LEO's would be to have them work for you, to earn the item they wanted and punish them a bit, this is all subjective to the perpetrators personal will to do so.

Do some research/read some world history, money was developed by the upper echelons of societies to consolidate the wealth and keep the average man in a perpetual state of employment, money is what assures an economy a perpetual state of growth, devouring humans and resources at an exponential rate, instead of attaining balance.

You could stop a thief MANY other ways, but you advocate the involvement of LEO'S, but at what cost? How does one theft jeopardize your ability to survive? (don't give me anymore of that "if he steals once he'll keep doing it" bullshit because it's common sense to know that once your caught your not going to continue) Don't you realize that morally you are MORE corrupt than the thief? The thief is stupid, does something impulsive and costs you $X, however by calling the LEO's you can potentially ruin the persons life for years, possibly forever. So by your rationality the thiefs life is only worth $2-$4 (blacks) .....don't you see something wrong with that?

 

why bother warning a repeat offender? this kid had stolen from this store multiple times. if i were a petty thief and some person warned me not to steal anymore, I would steal at times when they weren't at work. Action had to be taken
