I think the older we get the more we allow fear to control our lives and destroy our dreams There are many reasons to fear for the human race- How do you mean though?? Fear of the end of the world as we know it?- Fear that we will leave no history behind? Ill do 3 things that are a bit scary for mankind,,going forward Economic growth has always been destructive for the planet. Every empire that has ever existed can point to over-exploitation of resources as the root cause of their demise. Deterioration of resources. As we drill for more oil, mine for more metals, pollute more water, and convert more forests to ranches, we are eating through our natural capital – the very foundations of the earth’s capacity to support life. - Preoccupation with the future. For example, people buy all kinds of insurance such as life, health, car, accident, fire, hurricane – some people even bought rapture insurance – as ways to protect them from unforeseen events -I fear too many are worried about the unknown- - I hate to use an obvious quote but FDR said it pretty good 70 years ago(more or less) 'We have nothing to fear,,but fear itself" Sorry for getting serious - -the poll options hit on some good ones,,I just couldnt pick 1-
That IS a good one because there are more of them than ever Idiots on the other hand have always been around plentiful and we're still here Elderly idiots... that might become a problem. But if we just wait it out the problem will solve itself :cheers2:
FDR said it very well,. as only he could. But then just a few years later, WWII. Here is another obvious quote, from 'Dune' by Frank Herbert: “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
