i drive bare foot, almost stopped after i got a $500 fine for it, but now i just keep me shoes close bye.......
What'd they give you the fine for? Barefoot driving or did they throw it on reckless/unsafe driving? Because there aren't any laws against barefoot driving. The US page at http://web.archive.org/web/20030618.../legal/driving.barefoot/driving_barefoot.html includes Canada: "Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, New Foundland, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon Territory: Barefoot Driving: Operation of a motor vehicle by a driver with bare feet is permitted. " Some cops do unfortunately believe it's unsafe and put it under that header... however here are a couple links that should help in court if anyone wrote you up for it, stating that driving barefoot is *not* unsafe, even safer than many types of footwear regularly worn -one from an Aussie newspaper and one even from the Michigan PD saying "There is nothing in the Michigan Vehicle Code that prohibits barefoot driving. Careless or reckless driving would really be a stretch, as an argument could be made that a barefoot person has more control over the pedals."! http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,,21320070-953,00.html http://www.michigan.gov/documents/msp/TSS_Field_Update_16_172717_7.pdf If you're a regular barefoot driver, print them out. Even if they're not Canadian sources they could help, vehicles are the same everywhere.
I always drive barefooted! It is great and suits my barefoot lifestyle! I would hate to have to put shoes on every time I drive somewhere!
I drive barefoot pretty often, depending on the weather. Right now, in Alaska, it's roughly 30 degrees below zero, so I tend to wear boots when I leave the house. LOL. In the summer, it's fantastic, though.
I drive barefoot most of the time in summer, as i am in flip flops almost always, and i dont thinks its safe to drive in flip flops! i find i have much better control when driving barefoot, especially on a car with a very light clutch.
i sometimes do it. it' s more comfy. i also like to talk to barefoot driving girls and women, if they have a this kind of fetish ...
it's pretty dangerous, but i guess it's personal preference. some people may find it less difficult. though i drive a manual, it's more fidgety than an automatic so i feel many people would change their mind had they not been driving these automatic cars.
I'm up for some necro action! I drive barefoot but I'm thinking about getting a driving shoe for my right foot. My van's seat is awful and too high for a shorty like me, I almost need a platform shoe to make long driving comfortable.
