The nice thing about working is if you find a good job you really like and you hate house work like I do, you can hire someone to do that every so often. Now and then I hire someone to do things like spring cleaning and even a maintenance cleaning now and then. I don't mind doing the general stuff but I hate cleaning products and getting my hands dirty doing the nasty stuff. When you earn your own money it's easier to pay yourself with things you like to do or have. I am spoiled like my aunt, funny thing is she hires my brother and his girlfriend on odd weekends to do her stuff, he does the yard work, windows and garage while his girlfriend does all the inside stuff. She pays them well and feeds them an awesome lunch on top. I wish I had them living near me, my aunt says they do great work.
Exactly, ask yourself what things you like doing, and ask your job coach how you can earn money doing it.
and then get a crappy job like everyone else, because people don't pay other people to do things that people like to do.
You hit the nail on the head. Nowhere does it say that people have to enjoy their jobs. A job is a means of doing what you like in your spare time. Doctors make big bucks because few people can romp with the big dogs and get through the weeding out process. I got a job as a temp admin for a condo. I don't like the convivial atmosphere because I'm quiet and like to be alone. The work is decent. But I'm polite and just get on with it. Then I fuck off and go home to my sanctuary and relish in solitude. I like working. I was being totally paranoid. I thought people would be nosy and forceful. They let me work alone. Once they bugged me to eat lunch with them. I ate and excused myself. What I like most about working is that it makes your free time precious. Every moment of it counts,
I haven't read this whole thing...but if you invest in some business training..not a work-from-home for this company mlm kind of thing...actually learn how to do your own thing...you're not going to be scamming yourself and it can be very, very profitable to work on your own terms.
I've worked for myself or a friend for 50+ years. Started doing lawns etc in jr high, part time in coin shop after school in high school, buying & selling antiques and silver at swap meets, managing silver refinery, rock shop, etc.....Find something interesting and teach yourself.....hit the swap meets, antique shops and shows etc and teach yourself the biz.....go out there look and study what interests you. Learn your field well enough that you can buy cheap enough to sell wholesale and your prices do your talking for you.....
There is a site in the states that sells essential oils Cheap! And they encourage you to sell what you buy from them at your price. If the mailing to Canada wasn't so expensive I'd do that if I needed something to do. You can learn how to mix with their carrier oils and scents and they even supply sprayers, tiny bottles and labels. I only went there to get some stuff I needed but was surprised at the prices.
Not so true, I loved every job I did, when I got bored I moved on but people did pay me to do what I liked doing. You don't have to pick something you don't like and stay with it forever, only a few short stints I did that I didn't care for and that was only till I got what I wanted so I didn't even mind that. I am now in something I want to stay doing till I retire and people are paying me to do it. It doesn't even feel like I am working because 1. I love it, 2. I work only when I want and 3. It pays well, and as well as I want it to, meaning if I want more money I just have to add to my work or like now, I get what I am quite comfortable with so my contracts are lighter. I pick them as I want them and no one pushes me to take on what I don't want. If I went for more work I would just hire in again because I really don't care to work that hard myself. But that's the beauty of it all, even if you chose to sell something someone else makes, you could sell as much as you want and make what you need or perk it up some to put extras away. People pay you if they like what you do.
Not for me really because I am not very good at selling but some people are made for selling to the public.
I think you made a valid point. I'm on the fence. I have enjoyed jobs in the past and I'm enjoying this job too. On the other hand, if I won the lottery I would quit..
I think that if I won the lottery, whether I quit a job or not would be dependent on if I felt the job I was doing was meaningful. I'd get out of a bad work situation for sure, but I wouldn't necessarily rest on my laurels, I'd probably do charity or try to find a more meaningful job.
Kind of like keeping a purpose for yourself. Having something to do to keep from getting fat or becoming brain dead. When I was between jobs I got lazy and bored and kind of hated not having something to keep me busy, I am not a hobby person, didn't like knitting, reading books or collecting and caring for things or building things. My boyfriend's youngest daughter likes making cakes and she is taking courses for it and is turning into quit the artist at it, they look nice but I would have the patience for something like that. I got one for my birthday and my first thought was,,, man, I woulda screwed that up before it was done and tossed it in the garbage. I'd rather go help someone or get a job that didn't make me go in everyday but gave me a place to see people and do some good for someone.
i enjoy my job as much as i could enjoy any activity that earns me money. but if i won the lottery i would be doing the things that people pay to do, not the things that people get paid to do.
Good point but you can only take so many balloon rides and so much budgie jumping, eventually you might want something else. Probably at this point if you won enough you could buy a yacht but then you only want to be in that for so much of the year. Me I would need something to do even if it meant I took lots of long vacations. I think anyway.
If I won the lottery id just buy heaps of properties and rent them out for pocket money. Imagine up to 5-10k a week from just rent ya know assuming you won enough to buy 15 properties. =p then You'd make your fortune just on rent and sell the properties and be even more super rich. I have two townhouses I rent out myself and my partner quite a few more. Property game is always a winner for us.
