I have been to many countries and they never asked me for return tickets. Although once I have been refused to board a plane because I didn't have a return ticket.
So I just bought one to board the plane and then later refunded it.

This was from Thailand to China and I needed one because the Thai people thought China would demand a return ticket.
Which was not true at all. Chinese immigration never asked me for a return ticket.
