Thanks for the numbers but that is very vague.. I mean what do I do if I want to go down for a month or more? If I had the money Id just set up a little camp people who want to volunteer could live and eat at.. like WWOOFing, but for cleaning the oil up....

Im thinking about saving all my money, and selling my car and going down to LA indefinitely

    WTF edit...

I just called the volunteer hotline, and it says

Volunteers will be allowed to work in wildlife recovery and rehabilitation facilities; however, volunteers who do not have federal / state wildlife licenses cannot handle the wildlife. If you are interested in working in these facilities your name will be passed along to the wildlife recovery and rehabilitation coordinators so they can contact you when they need assistance.... Okay I dont have a license so then what????

I just registered for Volunteer Louisiana.. Ill do the other states later.. I wont be available until August, saving the funds and all that.. but it looks like they are mostly looking for professionals which is dumb.. anybody who is willing and able should be able to do SOMETHING.. but without a certificate or license it says you arent even allowed to touch the oil...please prove me wrong

oil makes human beings (life forms)sick, Its a liability.. When I was in Kuwait 2001, the smell of petro was so strong it would make you dizzy..there is was burning and pooled in the sand.. really bad side effects to some people.. gulf war syndrome was caused by the free radicals in the hydrocarbons laden atmosphere.. in the gulf of mexico I cant see this being any different as it will effect peoples health in the long run.

as human being, you should be able to tell danger. duck and fish can think, but they cant outrun the danger if they are trapped..

People can use protective gear, but in the heat and sun this gets very annoying. remember this is a peaceful location. So you will not be carrying firearms, or chemical weapons attack gear, or looking over your back for scuds..
still though, after a few hours wearing rubber gloves , and protective gear. you will be sweating your ass off, you will be hungry and dehydrate fast, the oil smell with get you dizzy..

couple tiredness, fatigue, with improper diets, sun, and oil fumes.. This either screams ILLNESS or it dont, I cant speak for every person.. You just have to use your head to be healthy and not get sick from helping..

Yeah Im prepared for uncomfortable working conditions.. but I still cant find anything.. lets say if I wanted to go volunteer today..?

and for the last time its not ALL BP's fault... its more the fault of the MMS, for not properly auditing this deep sea oil drill.. the MMS didnt do their job!!!!!

this is good to know guys thank you. i want to volunteer, perhaps do it long term. I won't be able to go until early fall. earth you said you couldn't go until august...i don't think that will be a problem, since this could potentially still be spewing in august.

anyway good to know i should get trained...thank you! as a stoner i procrastinate the research on jobs since im so caught up in the now with the news, so seriously thank you :sifone:
