I lost a lot of weight. Then people started calling me skinny. I gained back some of the weight I lost. Losing weight and gaining weight is easy but the problem is gaining muscle. It was something I couldn't do.

what did you do to try and gain muscle? theoretically, if you can gain weight you should be able to gain muscle. but you need to be pretty intentional about it, it doesn't just happen in most cases.
Gaining fat is easy. Gaining musle is difficult. I used to lift weight but couldn't have a result. No muscle.
genetics plays a role, but if you are able to gain fat, you should be able to gain muscle to at least some extent. i'm guessing you were doing something wrong in your weight training program.
