Thats true and thus seperation of Church(es) and State. The school barely can get there students up to acceptable reading levels, there is no way we could dedicate time and money and manpower to the teaching of all religions, thats what college is for.

We are founded on religous freedom here in America, and we still dont understand why it is not acceptable to hold one particular religion in higher regard as far as displaying it in a governmental situation.

Feel free to believe that your religion is the only way in your personal lives, but as patriotic americans we live here so that our government will try and keep the equality between all.

    Love, Me

Yeah, never teach religion so then most people do not even know anything about religion and then try to debate religion with no knowledge on hipforums.

I have seen the outcome of lack of knowledge in religion... you say leave it up to the parents but who taught the parents? Are they educated in every single worldview? Doubtful.

O yea.... Most of my teachers in high school were liberals and I saw there biases through out class but for some odd reason I am still conservative.

Even worse are those inauthenticate individuals whom claim the knowledge of christ then go ahead and make contemptuous and sarcastic remarks.

Maybe they could learn it at a church, or wherever your cult gathers at... Besides, it's not as though religion is neccesary, no one is going to die from lack of religion.... Really, the world would be better off without, maybe then people would be one step closer to thinking for themselves...

You're both right! Seems that religion should not be taught at a young age, until students are old enough to understand what is being taught. For personal religions, that should be left to the parents and clergy of the given religion, not public schools. Then, maybe in High School, there could be a World Religions or Comparitive Religions class, where one would learn the history and make-up of every major world religion (Paganism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, as well as some new religious movements). This way students are informed, but not being indoctrinated (kids that age aren't nearly as pliable as elementry level students).

But it should never be just one religion being taught, and never in a way that teaches it as truth (like my religion classes in Catholic school). That's not right for our government to be doing, nor is it fair for the kids who don't believe in that religion (believe it or not, there are non-Christians in the USA, and yes, they do count).

i thought that was what catholic and private schools were for? because as a non-christian i wouldn't really appreciate it if i, or my children, were taught about the "wonders of christmas" in a public school setting.

outside the realm of the "what should be done" theories, in this particularly instance, i'd say what that teacher did is technically illegal.

but i think it depends a good bit on how the story about jesus was presented. if some kid asked "why do we celebrate christmas" and she told the story associated with the holiday, then well i mean that makes sense and isn't the same as coming in one day like "ok kids i'm going to tell you about a wonderful man and how he will save you" or something.

i think it also depends on the age of the kids and the objectivity of the story.

I don't beleive He was a liar, I just beleive that there is more than one way...If He is God, then it does not matter, as long as people follow the true teachings of peace love compassion etc... I don't know why people never understand that I can beelive He is God and speaks the truth, if He is God, and the only way salvation (which i beelive will come, just maybe after several re-births) through a different or of God such as Krsna or Buddah etc...

Various christian activities and endorsements are allowed in the schools here, in this part of fla, at least.

My kids cannot participate in or view extra-curricular activities without being forced to paticipate in a primitive prayer ritual handed down at the point of persecution from veritable cavemen.

Further, god and other christian beliefs and values are often discussed in high school classes- quite illegally, of course.

But "true" christians follow only the laws of hypocrisy and mind control.

I'd sue- but why bother? The tide of ignorance that grips this country is dying of anemea; the bush re-election is a dying lunge by blind fanatics. Knowledge increases and proliferates- and fanatical christian missionaires cann no longer hold back the tide.

Let Christianity evolve and takes it's place among the worlds great philosophies- least it become completly the dinosaur, and go the way of the dinosaur.

No wonder kids suck at math, instead of learning about algebra they learn a bunch of shit about Jesus. I hope the teacher is fired and your kid grows up to detest what you shoved down his throat.

I feel sorry for the Jewish or Muslim kids in your kids school, if there are any allowed.

So what you beleive is what you don't understand...I don't really get what you are saying...

    Ok here goes:
    1. Material manifestations of one tru God
    2. A formless God
    3. An ever-existing soul comprised of Gods energy
    4. No damnation/condemming for not to beleive in God, for they shall be re-born.
    5. The Manifestations teach of the same God
    6. No devil/satan etc...
    7. Unity of religions
    8. Oneness of science and spirit
    10. Equal rights of all peoplea
    11. Evil is taughtand a thought, not at thing
12 Beleif in the truth of the Holy Books
    13. Prayer/Medtation for spiritual guidance/closeness...

How bout that for explaining...i was acctually just to lazy to write it out... :p

I know what i beleive is based on what I understand and what i read and see, not what i am told to beleive...

What my point is.... is that your theory is not based off anything but what you have created where as the Christian faith is based of the God inspired book--the Bible.

If there is no damnation/hell how is God just? How can a God just turn his back on evil and pretend like he did not see it. By your standards everyone is perfect and therefore there is no need for hell. Maybe next time someone murders someone else we should all just look away.

No i ahve not said that...I also base my beleifs on the Bible and other texts such as the "Bahavaghad-Gita as it is"(sp) where existing this psyical world is suffering, so punishment for for not-beleiveing/murder/ any other sin re-birth will occur in as many sucessive times that it needs to occur until the true teachings of God is found (even i don't knwo if im on the right path, though i fell God and i feel i am)

All the religions basicall teach the same things Love, compassion, Peace, and simplicity in your life...this is the way i try to live...Right now i do do a lot of reading in the New testament (the gospels cause i don't beleive Paul has the word of God when i can read what God [Jesus] acctually did)...I have already competed the "Gita", and plan to read it again soon...

anything you want to attack me for in this?

    Jesusdiedforyou,

Your ignorance is the work of the devil. Understanding is NOT the enemy of truth- blind gullibility is.

You spit in the face of the god that gave you intelligence and knowledge.
