Here's the way I see it: A bunch of fucking murders killed alot of innocent people, by flying them into buildings, burning them alive inside buildings, cutting of their heads with kitchen knifes while they scream. Not only were a lot of those people Americans (who have been brothers to Canada) but many of those people were Canadians. Saddam is a sick fucking violent murderer and his Heirs were just as sick violent and rape-loving fuckers. They DID slaughter innocent Iraqies and did NOTHING to hinder Al Quaida's gameplan. At best Saddam was a 'Neutral'. So FUCK HIM and GOOD LUCK to all the Americans, Brits and (by support) Canadians for going in there and absolutely taking over Iraq. Everyday MORE people sympathetic to the Al Quaida cause get their brains blown out - than US, British or Canadian Forces. GOOD!!!!!! Keep up the GREAT WORK! As for all that Oil? GOOD! I hope Americans get A HUGE MULTIBILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT! TO FUCKING BAD!? .. and you want to know something else - If Dick Cheney adds another 10 Million dollars to his 'Old Buddies' at Wackenhut or Slumberger or whoever the fuck makes Millions off Oil... GOOD! Because AMERICAN, BRITISH (Canadians, Poles and Aussies) are THE ONES DESTROYING EVIL AND BLOWING THE FUCKING BRAINS OUT OF AL QUAIDA-LOVERS! GOOD YOU YOU USA! Im Proud that CANADA STANDS WITH YOU! BRITAIN DOES TOO. Thats what OUR ELECTED Leaders have done and were RE-ELECTED DURING THE WARTIME to KEEP DOING. Those professional protesters who grab all that media attention WERE NOT ELECTED OR CHOSEN AS OUR REPRESENTATIVES. IN fact.. I could EASILY Find TEN TIMES the amount of Canadians to show up SUPPORTING BUSH JR... .. However most of them HAVE JOBS and for that matter - ALREADY VOTED FOR A PRO-COUNTER WAR GOVERNMENT IN CANADA.
There have been more innocent Iraqis and Afghanis killed because of Bush then Saddam ever killed. Why don't we break international law and attack America - the Republicans have already proved to us its acceptable.
Sorry, this is just not true. If the UN wanted to kick france out, it would be done in the general assembly, not the security council. In the late 1990's, the general assembly threatened to remove the US vote in the general assembly until we paid our dues. We had no way to stop this.
upwards of 17,000 dead innocent civilians... nearly a half million dead children because of american economic sanctions (since the gulf war). plus don't forget that america supplied iraq with weapons and pushed for the iran-iraq war...
Sorry folks but the amount of innocent Iraqi's killed in this war does not come close to the amount of Iranians, Kurds, Kuwaiti's, Americans and Iraqi's killed by Saddams wars. These stupid 'Jacked up' numbers people are basing on 'The Amount of illnesses resulting in death which MAY have been treatable IF Saddam was allowed to sell Oil.. " Come on! Get Real.
dont be silly. They were not American economic sanctions, they were UN sanctions. Canada is just as responsible for those sanctions as America. However, i dont believe any nation bears any responsibility for that except saddam hussein. He attacked kuwait and maintained a weapons program, that is why we put sanctions on him. Those deaths are on HIS hands.
true they were un sanctions, but america specifically targeted infrastructure - powerplants, sewage stations to hasten their effects on the population. also he attacked kuweit with american supplied weapons - weapons given to him to attack iran. its america's cycle of state terrorism - arm a dictator, let him kill the people, and then when he refuses to allow america exploit his nations resources, kill him on moral grounds.
America supplied very little to saddam hussein compared to other nations. No excuse though. However, you are going to blame america for what HE did? America just cant win.
what are you talking about - he received weapons to attack iran almost exclusively from the states... weapons purchased later were from a variety of sources (used to attack kuweit). My problem with the states is that the entire economy is based upon the oppresion of other nations. Look at latin america's history - cuba, guatemala, honduras, chile... all of these nations were exploited by the united states. and its not stopping - you guys tried to oust chavez from venezuala pretty damn recently. venezuala has oil... what a fucking coincidence. the situation in the middle east is just as dire. america blindly supports israel, giving them money and weapons so that they can have military prescence in the arab world. these weapons are killings muslims, and they hate you for it. terrorists in the middle east don't hate some vague notion of freedom, they don't hate america because women walk around veil-less, they hate the killers of their friends and family. america brought 911 on itself, and if it takes more to wake the people, then more will happen. i feel sympathy for the 5,000 dead, but i feel even worse for the millions dead by america's hand. when america stops stealing from the world, stops killing innocents, i'll change my opinion.
it always shocks me the reaction that conservatives have to the expression in a "free" country of dissent. i'm not sure what parties you are referring to...when you speak of Canadians re-electing the party that supported the invasion of Iraq?? Jean Chretein, a liberal, would not join George Bush, and our current liberal prime minister continues with these sentiments.
I went to the protets in toronto, I was bloody upset by the small number of people who showed up. I had promoted the protest and found tons of people interested and not one showed. I think people are just lazy and have no will to voice their opinions anymore, and i think THAT is the biggest shame of all. Bush or no bush people need to speak their minds and a protest is the place for it, A gathering .
I see protests now more as a networking tool for like-minded people. Express you opinion? To who? Each other? The Cops? A 30 second spot on the evening news that makes us look like idiots? No one is listening. We talk to ourselves at these things it seems.
absolutely NOBODY here so much as suggested these protesters should have no right to congregate. If you push people around - the cops will fuck you up. But dont try and scam this conversation by switching it up to some controversy about your right to assemble and protest. Canada officially supports the Invasion of Iraq. Chretien Did Alliance did and so does the current Liberal Gov under Martin. Canada DID NOT send troupes into Iraq, which is not a huge surprise considering we are already in Afghanistan AND supporting ships in and out of Iraq. [keep in mind our military is tiny compared to most nations] So yes.. the vast majority of our ELECTED officials SUPPORT the War in Iraq. Is it all 'politics'... yes. So too is your protests.
The Canadian Military is reputed to be one of the very best in the world and the 'Numbers' seem to back that up. Having said that.. we only have a pop. of 30 Million and a lower ratio of Soldier to Civilian than most comparable nations. So there is a reason for not jumping into the Iraqi war.
yeah ....but too bad its under funded and poor equipped and what would it had matter .....you could only supply a few thousand troops if that .
Canada should say "nevermind this, we're going neutral". The worst that could happened is that the US starts being bitchy with the so-called free trade we have between both countries. And then our economy would have to change, and seek other partners, like Europe and Asia. It is good that have the majority of your economy based on the import/export with only one country. Especially when that country seems to be the most hated country in the world, no matter wheter it is deserved or not. Meh, economy and politics equals to a lot of wasted energy, productivity and time. Not at all of it, but everything is so twisted in those worlds that there's a lot of useless stuff going on. Like marketing. Or politicians saying not much, so you end up wondering, what are his views anyway ??
I live in southern ontario, And am canadian, and am DISGUSTED at bush and american policy. It's NOT OKAY, not even a little bit, and the ignorant canadian that loves bush i encourage to move to america (sorry to open minded american's, but i can't deal with close minded canadians). I was at the toronto vigil protest and it was JAMMING. I heard ottawa was quite the protest too.
and a side note on the small numbers at the various protests, i do agree that something was wrong with this, but those that do show are great people.
