I think SOME of us have just decided that explaining some pretty obvious points to someone who is a Republican and a capitalist is kind of boring and pointless and they would rather not waste their time. I feel like that sometimes too. My hubby is a dem BUT a capitalist and he just pisses me off so much sometimes I tell him to shut up:) Don't read too much into it. This is a HARD long fight. Some of us are weary and disgusted.

Well, of course not to an elitist like you.

No problem. Any time. And I mean that, but god, you're so naive.

    You wouldn't think so.

    You know nothing.

No, and that's what sets me apart from you. I've seen hard working people be shit on, you havent. I've seen sick people get no breaks regardless of how hard they work.

(Waits for applause) Funny how you happen to be all of that in one post.

It is fun. I agree. You're so sad.

Sweetie you are so naive:) I don't need to bother making points because you won't listen anyway. My points are already made by the condition of our people and the rampant poverty and lack of health insurance or help. The disasters of once great cities like Detroit. The homeless shelters of the city I live in (NYC) filled with children and familes. Gee, is a man who went to school for 6 years and worked his ass off and now can' get a job or any help LAZY? You will see. Have you bothered to see how OTHER countires do it? Do you know that CUBANS have a higher literacy rate than us? better health care? In europe in many places your employer has STAFF to help you with housing? Benefits? etc... I hope you never get sick or have a hard time. I truly do. If things were as simple as you think they are this WOULD be a great country! All poor sick people should just get a job and buck up. The luxury of having such opinions. I am sure alot of people whould like to be able to feel the same. You need to do some SERIOUS SERIOUS reading. Don't bother to insult me. it won't bother me.
I wish you peace and love!
I hope you never get sick, lose a job or have a hard time.

If you honestly believe that we can all have our own beliefs and get along, why did you ask us if we hate you? You expected us to hate you. Apparently, you are not aware, but this forum is fairly diverse. There are plenty of people here who are republicans. Obviously, I cannot speak for anyone else, but I don't hate anyone. I disagree with a lot of what the republicans here believe in, but I couldn't possibly hate someone for that. Do you really know how strong of a word that is and the impact that it has. Do you hate us for being liberal? If not, then why would you expect us to hate you?

Not only that, but if you think that we are all entitled to our opinions, why do you hate protesting so much? The whole basis of this country is that we can all have our own beliefs, and we can voice our opinions freely. If one wants to protest something that they find to be an injustice, they have not only a right to but an obligation to, otherwise how could change come about?

I'm not replying to the rest of this post, because I find it to be ridiculous and requiring too much of my precious time to teach you something that you obviously do not want to learn. When you are ready to know it, you will learn it. Perhaps that is the difference between you and many of us here. We don't come here to hate or be hated, but to learn from one another. Regardless of how much some of us disagree, we at least try to understand one another, I don't feel that you are trying to understand any of our perspectives.

All I've got to say is that if talk radio is the only place you get your news, you aren't going to get much news. Talk radio is notoriously biased and opinionated. Not that I'm saying you should stop listening to it, but if you really want to know what's going on I would reccomend going through a bunch of different sources so that you can actually sift out the facts from the opinins. When you only have one point of reference it is hard to tell what is really truth, and even harder to tell what they simply neglected to tell you, but when you have a variety of sources you can compare them and you will have a much more complete view of the world.

I know I said I wouldn't respond to the rest of the post, but I can't help myself. I work extremely hard at two jobs and I'm going to college. I really do put myself through school, meaning my mommy and daddy don't pay for anything. Nothing. As a matter of fact I don't even speak to my parents anymore. I moved out when I was 17 years old, finished high school early and on my own, with no mother to make me get out of bed in the morning. I worked full time my senior year so I could pay $350 in rent and utilities to rent a room from someone. I've been taking classes in college for 7 years now because I can only take 1 or two classes per semester. I get up and go to work every fucking day and work my goddamn ass off, come home change my clothes and go back to work again, or 2 nights per week I go to school.

Mommy and Daddy aren't here to pay my rent, my car payment, insurance, my bills buy me clothes or food or medicine. I do all of that. I make less than $20,000 a fucking year. You want to talk about things that aren't fair and people working hard, come walk a day in my shoes. I work harder in one day than you have ever worked in your life. And guess what I still don't have everything I want. Just because you work hard, does not mean the world is handed to you on a silver platter. But you know what, I still know why we have welfare, and I still love to help those less fortunate than myself. Because no matter how bad I've got it, I know there is someone else out there who has it worse.

Hopefully, you will learn these things as you age and gain some more experience in the real world. If you take the time to open your mind and actually listen to what some people are saying here, you might learn it sooner than you think.

It's not that simple. If only it were.

Duh, there aren't any. My good friend's mom just got layed off (fired) after working somewhere for 11 yrs. She never missed a day of work that whole time. she worked hard, now what can she do. There are no jobs.

Well for some of us freedom and protesting a bogus war are just as important as getting a paycheck. Money isn't everything, you'll see.

And you work at a dentist's office while you're sick?! How gross and UNPROFFESIONAL. ewwww, I hope you're never my dentist.

You have a lot to learn about life. Get out and meet some diverse people with diff. backgrounds, maybe your views will change.

This thread is actually very interesting to read, and brings up some good points of view. I have to say I do agree with the statement “The harder you work, the farther you’ll get”, that is a wonderful motto, in fact that’s the American dream, but the problem is, the American dream died about 35 years ago. The baby boomers were the last to even have a shot at that dream, now in the age of generation-X it’s basically a roll of the dice if you will make it or just suffer by the rest of your life. If you were fortunate enough to grow up in a family where your biggest concern was ‘where should we go on vacation this year’ than count yourself truly blesses.

As for the whole republican against democrat thing, doesn’t anyone find it rather comical that this year were voting between two elite ‘Skull and Bones’ members, who’s net wealth came either from their father, or their wife. I don’t like the whole party thing, hell if I had the option I would say we should all vote NO this year, but be that as it may one must look at what G.W. Bush has done for the country, we are in a recession * a recession is two or more quarters of economic loss & unemployment growth*, were at war, of which I am very unhappy about (ask me about my friend that got to come home this past winter extra early, yeah cuz he was in a body bag), and if that wasn’t enough were losing our rights set forth by our founding fathers(Patriot Act). For anyone to vote based upon the fact that they call themselves (this or that party) is just being a followers, it’s almost the lazy approach to voting, rather than looking at the hard facts it’s just like Oh I always check Red/Blue. Now all that being said, I will add that I plan to vote for Kerry, why, because when you weigh the facts of the matter you find that Bush lies. Watch his speech Thursday, watch him feed us that line that ‘our economy is growing and doing great’ then make sure to look, and listen on Friday when the Fed’s announcement shows what we all know, (employment is on the decline, spending is at a standstill, the housing market & other manufactured goods are at a standstill) and then they will hick the interest rate anywhere from .5 to 1.0 % which will work great for all those people that went out and bought homes while it was cheep, or racked up credit card dept etc.. I guess the choice is not if you want to get fucked in the ass, but if you want it to be RED or Blue when they’re done doing so to you……….

LOL I don't know where you saw the protest, or if you even saw it at all because I didn't see one dirty hippy on the 4 different networks that I saw clips of it on. I saw the women against war, I saw veterans against war I saw gay people, I saw Move on. org people, international ANSWER, I saw rich college brats who drive beemers and live with their parents, I saw so many different kinds of people. Sure there might have been a couple of clean or dirty hippies there, but in all actuality I believe you facts are incorrect my friend. I think everyone in the world could possibly have been represented at those demonstrations. Whether they were there because they thought it was cool or not, I haven't a clue, because as I know you haven't the power to either, I cannot read minds. Again I'm sure some thought it was cool. I do however believe that the majority of the people who were there actually knew what they were protesting and cared a great deal about it. But they were protesting so many different things, such as the war, gay rights, women's rights, there were teachers there fighting for more money for education. You think these people were just there for fun? They risked their lives for fun. They go arrested and beat with clubs and dragged by police for fun? Are you insane or just on drugs?

hate is just a word... only confused lil hippies get there panties in a bundle when someone uses the word hate... its just an emotion... and theres nothing wrong with it, or expressing it... not very far off from "dislike"... No... i dont hate you... because hippies dont say they hate anything.. and i try my best to be a hippy.
    pft, bullshit.

And good job putting words in my mouth, jesuswasamonkey...

    Mui,

you are most certainly entitled to your opinion, I cannot change that nor have I any desire to. However, I disagree. I do not feel that hate is just a word or an emotion. Perhaps you have never had people truely hate you. That is a good thing. I don't think I've ever had anyone truely hate me either. Super. That isn't the point. It goes further than that. What if your parents had you and hated you, or hated children in general, do you think your life would be different than had they loved you? There is a difference between disagreeing with someone's views, especially political, and hating a person. And to assume that anyone would hate you because you are a republican is nonsense.

And this isn't about lil hippies or what you sterotype as hippies. I'm just a person, not a hippie, and while there are plenty of real people in my actual life, not over the internet that have done some pretty fucked up things to me, I still don't hate them, therefore I cannot bring myself to hate someone that I don't even know because I would actually have to care in order for me to hate which I don't.

This is just one of many definitions that I found: "Strong aversion coupled with desire that evil should befall the person toward whom the feeling is directed; as exercised toward things, intense dislike; hatred; detestation; -- opposed to love."

Quite frankly, I think hate is as overused as love. People use both terms too much and perhaps they don't mean anything to anyone anymore.

I was registered to vote as a Republican until about 1997. Despite the fact that I had been involved with the Libertarian party for five years prior to this decision, I kept my Republican registration only so I could vote in the primary elections here in Maryland. When I realized that this was becoming an excercise in futility, and because I wanted to participate in Libertarian party activities more actively (i.e. voting at conventions regarding party policies), I decided to register Libertarian. I don't regret my decision.

    (go to bottom for reply)
I admire your character, discipline and courage. I'll confess I didn't have any of that at your age. I hope you're able to keep virtually all of your income. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you do!

You did not give one single solid reason for feeling the way you do, instead you instantly took the offensive and making remarks about hateful dirty liberal hippies. No one would hate you for being a republican, as long as you had good reasons for it, but everything you said is bullshit and closedminded. If people hate you, it's probably less to do with your political opinons and more to do with your ignorant, asshole statements and generalizations. (mind you, I'm not saying your an asshole....)
BTW, foolish amerikan pride is the reason so many people around the world are starving and being taken advantage of by this country. Being proud of this country is like being proud of your father for being a serial killer. Pride is something you feel from accomplishing something good, not for being born in any random country. That is why there are wars and shit....too many prideful people out there.
