I hear voices. Yes. Before falling asleep. I've been wondering what this occurrence is called and I found out it's called hypnagogia ("the experience of the transitional state from wakefulness to sleep: the hypnagogic state of consciousness").

"Early references to hypnagogia are to be found in the writings of Aristotle, Iamblichus, Cardano, Simon Forman and Swedenborg. Romanticism brought a renewed interest in the subjective experience of the edges of sleep. In more recent centuries, many authors have referred to the state; Edgar Allan Poe, for example, wrote of the "fancies" he experienced only when I am on the brink of sleep, with the consciousness that I am so."

I thought maybe it was my spirit guides talking. Sometimes I hear a voice (telepathically I guess) and it sounds very philosophical, speaking of life and the universe, sometimes in riddles. Then sometimes I seem to be having a conversation with this voice and actually asking about life and things going on with me and I get answers. I find it difficult to remember what is said even though the voice does repeat things for me. I guess I need to keep a journal right next to me so if I wake up, I can write down anything I remember. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if there's a way to tap into it more and be able to remember details of conversations..

rainy , i must say i've a curious mystery somewhat related to
yours . it goes like this : i go to make a speech but apparently
trance out while doing it and then only hear the very last words
i say so at least i know i was talking . later someone will say they
were all very good words . then it seems too strange to admit to
this person i mostly can't remember anything but my heart's intent .

Yes, I think whatever knowledge I gain is absorbed in my being, it's just a bit disappointing to not remember it word for word.. I wake up to the last words and I know there was a conversation just going on.

Do you sleep to music at all? Sometimes when people sleep to music they can also associate their dreams with the music so if you listen to the music it may bring a déjà vu memory?

I believe what you say about the conversations. The fact that I very rarely ever dream about myself is a sign to me that there's not just me in my head =p

the oracle wheel indicates your questions are what's most important .
haven't you made your own wheel yet ? anyway , it suggests this
as your answer : seek the question , listen for it in the world - which
means Quest! - to be out and about walking around and listening unto
anyone and everyone . the dream , so honored , shall enter reality with
an actual voice . it may have the feeling of an echo , an echo that will
    seem very precise .

I hear them, too! It's so fascinating that I hate falling asleep and feeling like I'm missing more.

Last week, I was startled awake by a loud, male, voice calling my name. That's only happened that one time.

This happens to me frequently! It's usually someone calling my name, and sometimes a physical sensation of being pushed awake. If I don't wake up, it becomes more urgent.

    I wasn't happy about it.

The first thing I said was "What do you want?".

I've never heard my name being called, or not I can recall. It sounds to me more like the spirits/voices/whatever that is contacting you guys want your help. The voices I hear sound like they want to help me in some way..

It seems like the one that woke me wanted nothing other than to wake me. Maybe he just wanted to see if he could. Also, he called me by the name my family calls me which is not the name I've been going by with people I've met in the last 15 years.

The voice is always soothing and I imagine myself sitting on the moon meditating, and asking questions about the infinite universe. And it seems the universe responds.

i have sleep paralysis and my hypnagogic and hypnopompous visuals are the shit. scary as hell, or just ludicrously insane in good days, until i learned it was just my brain playing tricks to me. since i was a boy, btw.
