The last I saw, it's still expected to be a cat-4 after it passes the keys. That's still very strong though. Whether it's 145mph winds or 160mph winds, it's still going to do a lot of damage
A family friend of ours from the Northeast recently bought and refurbished a vacation home in St. Johns FL. They're not in FL thankfully. But they're freaking the fuck out right now.
Seeing online postings from evangelicals celebrating the hurricane for smiting gays, ISIS supporters for smiting Americans, and others celebrating hurricanes for smiting Trump supporters. Little do they realize that many of those Caribbean islands were not inhabited by Americans. That large populations in the hurricane path who didn't vote for Trump. And there are Christians and Muslims who are going to have their lives ruined by this hurricane. It's quite disturbing what people will say, nestled safely behind their keyboard and monitors. Hopefully their archived posts will come back to haunt them someday.
Well, we are going to a nearby shelter later this afternoon and staying until Monday morning, after the storm is over. My parents are no better off but my dad won't leave the house. And my husband's parents own a farm and they don't want to leave. We are all sort of in the same boat, here. Every county is under a hurricane ''warning,'' unless you're really far up north, and then you'll still get tropical storm winds. But, the local high school is serving as a shelter, and they are serving three meals a day, that's so nice of them. Plus, they are pet friendly, and since we have pets they're coming with us. So, I feel good about this plan. I talked with a few neighbors, and they're staying and not boarding up. Idk, it's so hard to decide sometimes if you should stay or go, but better to be safe, imo. Be safe everyone!! You're in my thoughts <3
I know that with cats, one can bring a litter box to the shelter. But I'm wondering where do dogs go to the bathroom; I'm certain no one's walking them outside in those high winds.
That's a good question. I have cats, so they're staying in crates provided by the shelter, and I just have to bring litter and food for them. I still feel bad that they have to stay separate in another room, but what we can do. If the windows break, and water starts coming in, then my cats will drown. This is so fucking unreal. Be safe, friend. <3
"Robert de Niro's waiting" - in the wings it seems http://www.unilad.co.uk/news/robert-deniro-will-rebuild-barbuda-after-95-was-destroyed-by-irma/
I think one of our memebers, Shale, said he was renting a small apartment in the Miami Beach area. Hopefully he has left it all behind to avoid the storm.
oh im sure he packed away his jorts and nude picture collections...probably documented it all with photos and blogged about it somewhere too i mean "fotos"
The shelter I'm going to has a separate room where volunteers are taking care of the pets. Going up there soon to register because a friend called me to say they are getting filled up.
Crazy comment I read today, about Irma: Revenge is a dish best served cold. Remember 1999 and the bombing of Serbia. Americans have just been served that cold dish. God is a Serb and He remembers.
