While possible...this is a good way to get yourself or one of your viking crew shot as well.

I wouldn't hunt just because I'm not butch and don't really feel like getting all geared up to shoot some dinner.

I'd fish though. I actually find fishing very therapeutic.

i could hunt if i have to. i don't have to, so i don't. i generally don't eat meat because i think the way we treat animals is really fucked up. i think it is wrong to raise animals specifically for slaughter. it is wasteful and cruel....

If you want control over how your meat is killed then it seem you have to hunt.
    You do have to.
Why is it wasteful and cruel?
    What are your solutions?

grain fed cows in feed lots live terrible lives who's duration is shortened substantially by their diet, and their living conditions, but it's okay because we're going to bolt gun them to death anyway?

I've read a little about "Grain fed" but would appreciate more information.
How is their living conditions affected by their feed?

please. this is grocery shopping, not a SPORT or role playing game. i hunt one animal to feed my family, we have a very short period of time to fill a tag. we're not out there to feed everyone in the group. that would take too long and require too many trips. EVOLVE.

once an animal becomes grain fed, their fats turn from omega 3 to omega six. a wild animal keeps healthier fat on their body, as well as less of it. in addition to the basic problem of less healthy fats, their conditions at the feed lots are frequently UTTERLY DISGUSTING. not to mention the sheer amount of grain and land wasted to raise that grain, when cows are perfectly capable of feeding healthily on grasses and scrub that we can't access. the whole point of domesticating cows was to have access to food resources we otherwise couldn't touch. but now we're feeding them OUR FOOD just to get a marbled effect with fat that really bad for us.

all around, a bad deal. back when i still had a brain, i did a thesis on this for my math class. it's just wasteful, dirty and senseless.

so i moved to the real west and found me a job at a hunting store, as well as a mountain man.

btw, i'm a bow hunter, too. it's a better experience, but expediency does tend to win out.

for food. i was pretty much vegatarian by default for a very long time. it was HORRIBLE. i'm a meat eater. i don't have the space to raise animals for myself, thus i hunt. plus, i never feel more alive and real and connected as i do when i'm stalking food.

I see, so you don't eat any meat other than which you kill?
Seems reasonable if that is the case.
I don't really get a kick out of how it makes people feel tbh - thanks anyway
