Your body is trying to tell you something.
There may be an underlying health issue. Or it may simply be natural to your specific body chemistry to not drink alcohol.
If you are on any proton pump inhibitors (prilosec), some say alcohol poisoning occurs at a faster rate. Due to it slowing the metabolization process.

While drinking or right before drinking eat lots of bread/potatos/pasta...basically any starchy foods...that will absorb the alcohol and allow you to drink more OR the same amount without the nausious feeling. STAY hydrated like some of the other posters suggested...that also helps...drink lots of water...this will also help with hangovers...

Not to get into a friggin' pissing contest here...But..
Yes, force alcohol into your system, even though nausea is the first indication of alcohol poisoning....[/sarcasm]

Learned with age..If they make fun of you for not doing well with a substance, they aren't your real friends.

That would be like me handing someone a tab of strong LSD, waiting for it to kick in...Then starting a long, painful discussion on fire ants, spiders, & cockroaches.
You'd at least better hope that they are smart enough to see that you don't choke on your own vomit after you go into a stupor.

All that having been said, I kinda find it cute when I know can drink a guy under the table. [IMG] In other words, it shouldn't stop you from getting laid either.

Im a bit fan of drinking loads of water before I go drinking, and if you can get some into during the course of your drinking all the better. It seems whenever I forget to drink water at the end of a night (usually) I wake up with a headache the next morning, but when I drink water before I go to bed, no problems. Water is your friend.

I agree with Fritz. You body is trying to tell you something. I can't drink at all. Not only does even the taste of most alcohol make me gag, I get violent migraines from even small amounts of alcohol. Not only should people like me, with migraines not drink, but other people have issues or health concerns which make alcohol consumption nearly impossible. Also, early INtolerance to alcohol can signal an allergy, which some people equate to later possible alcoholism. I was careful. I'm 44 years old, and I have never been drunk. Quite honestly, I don't think I have missed anything. Years ago, when I was a kid, and a college student ect, I could easily mess with drunk people's heads, while completely sober. It was kind of refreshing. LOL! There are alcoholics in my family, so it is probably best that I did never drink.

You don't need it. If your body is saying "DON'T do it!" Then, hell, don't. How much do you think you will really miss? Puking on yourself. People messing with your head (or other parts of you) while you are messed up, liver damage. I mean really, unless you NEED to occasionally socially drink (and I only take a few sips of Champagne of New Year's Eve, that's all I ever drink) why bother with something your body is screaming NO to?

JMO. It's your body. Do what you think it best.

Have a good meal before you go out, and drink water during the evening. It may also be that your allergic to alcohol. it could be that it turns toxic in you system. If that's the case, don't drink.

You all know that alcohol is really a poison right? In any amount, not just if you drink too much.

I'm not saying I don't drink, because believe me I love beer. Yum. however, some people really aren't cut out for drinking, so more than likely you will have to find an alternative.

Personally, I wish we could get those alcohol inhaler things. Then I wouldn't have to worry about a beer belly, it would save me a lot of time at the gym. But I doubt that will ever happen here.

You could try different types of alcohol or drinking slowly, but I doubt you will find any difference. Like the others have said, it is your body rejecting something. It is natural. Just like my body rejects metal so I can't have piercings or wear jewelry.

If you're planing on drinking liqour have a medium rare steak before you go. And lots of bread with butter, butter not margarine.

    And yeah.

I hope that was a typo.

But seriously, if it makes you sick, don't drink as much. Eating first helps too.

Before you go out: Drink a glass of milk and eat a good meal.

While drinking: Alternate between alcohol and water, don't mix alcohols, remember, beer before liquor, never been sicker

After you drink: Drink more water before bed, don't take any drugs, and if the room is spinning, put your hands palm down on the bed, and keep your eyes open looking at the ceiling, that way your eyes and hands will say your sitting still even though your inner ear says your spinning.

oh yeah that chaser reminds me, used to go into the cocktail lounge bout 7am for a bloody mary before working all day in the oyster beds, and forgot too.......... we went home, my girlfriend and I, I didn't sleep, we stayed up listened to music and drank wine coolers or beer. A few times she came into work later and bitched me out in front of the crew for not taking the day off......no comment, we're still friends.

Mixing alcohol and pot normally seems to be a terrible idea for most people.

Sure ethanol's toxic - but too much of literally anything can kill you. How about acetaminophen -that's pretty damn hepatoxic and I don't take it - but people don't think twice about popping that everyday.

I'm not saying it can't be harmful - but it's all about knowing the risks and how to avoid or mitigate their harm.

    Plus booze is fun.

Practice and knowing your limits are as important here as with anything.
The more often you drink the more volume you can drink without the unpleasantness, though as with anything one needs to not get caught up in it. And drinking in and of itself is not for everybody. If you find you can't handle yourself mentally when drunk, don't drink. If you don't like to drink, don't drink. There's plenty of people who drink that shouldn't. And vice versa.

Different drinks have different subtle effects for a reason - tannins, fusel alcohols/oils... etc or the lack of (vodka) - some people have a hard time with some or many of the more 'spirited'.
I love good scotch and cheap burbon, but some people can't even stand the smell.
Gin is another biggie with alot of "stuff" in it.
Stick with ligher liquors and vodka If you can't handle heavier stuff.
As for beer? I don't drink beer to get drunk plus I find that the cheap macrobrews don't agree with me.

YMMV is what' i'm trying to say.

Make sure you keep hydrated before during and after - rather important, I believe alot of peoples hangovers are largely from dehydration. Plus water is good for you.

Chaser and it's ilk is a scam. - the true magic I've found is:

n-Acetylcysteine (NAC)- an aminio acid and very powerful antioxidant - this is a HUGE thing that I try to spread the word about
    Allow me to explain

Ethanol in the body is metabolized first into acetaldehyde, a substance far more toxic and damaging to the body than ethanol. It's existance above tolerable levels in the bloodstream is the cause of many a "killer hangover" and many symptoms in general - this in turn is reduced to harmless salts of acetic acid, and byproducts, with the help of the liver enzyme 'acetaldehyde dehydrogenase'.
Cystine play's a large role in this (acetaldehyde metabolism and as an extension - ethanol metabolism) as well as other body processes.

Anyone interested in the deeper biochemistry can read an excellent in-depth article here

My personal anti-hangover/"aww liver I really didn't mean it" cocktail is as follows:

    n-Acetylcysteine - ~600mg - bulk crystals
Milk thistle extract 80% - ~400mg - bulk powder - good liver detoxifier
    B 1 - 100mg - cheap from the vitamin section
    Vitamin C - OJ - screwdriver anyone?

I take it before attempting a bender, the day after a binge with gatorade, and just whenever the mood strikes - the stuff's good for you even if you don't drink.
I've no set pattern on dosing - but remember that this will only really prevent hangovers. not cure them so much.

the NAC and milk thistle I buy bulk online - both are completely OTC, you can buy pills, but it's cheaper bulk. You could make your own caplets, but I prefer to not have empty caplets and their capping dodads around...

One thing to note is the NAC tastes kind of nasty, not really bitter like some things you may have tried...
but kind of a wierd strong metallic taste, I just mix it with OJ and you can only barely tell.

The milkthistle extract is pretty much insoluble in water so you can't mix it but doesn't really taste bad so I just swallow it off a spoon.

    Hope this helps.

    ps.
I'm sure some people might have something snide to say about alcohol consumption, or the amounts that I and others consume - feel free I love a good debate.

    However
Drunkard != alcoholic as much as madd and many AA religious wacks would like you to believe.
In much the same way that Pothead != Useless Burnout

    pps.
I find weed and booze generally to be a good combination - except that once in a while I get really spaced out which ruins the whole social vibe - and low quality indica has a tendency to put me unconcious.

the dosage you suggest for B-1 is way to low, most of it is not metabolized. Also drinking a cup of water per 10 pounds of body weight is a norm for good health without drugs/booze/etc................you have any idea how much water u have to take with alcohol consumption. You'll find someday maybe no amount of natural drugs and water help. That's when you take one sip of hard liquor or one hit of low quality indica and get totallly smashed, means your liver has reached a toxic overload.......best thing to do is stop for a few years, unless you are smart and can figure a way to have fun instead of appearing to be an idiot in front of sober people, your choice based on my experience. Ever notice how drunks hang with drunks? (clue)
