In my childhood I often went barefoot with adults wearing shoes, for example when shopping.

I am like you. I want to go barefoot openly but am shy because I never have gone barefoot and it would be out of character for me.

    Take off your shoes.
    Take off your socks.
    Go about your business.
That is how you go barefoot around anyone.

I was going to offer advice, but gee this thread is old. The girl has probably forgotten about this and moved. Also, 54 year old men.... just what the hell?

Someone seems to be obsessed with this topic, it just keeps coming up no matter how much advice is given. BTW, any parents of a 54 year old man wouldn't notice anyway. Y'know what I mean??

The best advice has already been said and that is just take off your shoes and socks and go barefoot!

    In case anybody comes here,

I think the best advice is to take it slow. After a shower, don't wear any footwear. Go barefoot for a little bit casually just for a few minutes. When you get out of bed go around barefoot casually too. Eventually people will get used to that. Do that for longer periods of time until you are going barefoot virtually all the time. As for outdoors, go out into the garden for short amounts of time barefoot as if you aren't bothered. Eventually do the same thing you did indoors and go outside barefoot for longer periods of time until it becomes regular. For short drives such as to the petrol station, tag along but go barefoot. Do little things and take your time and eventually you'll be going barefoot most places.
