I think that would work. Perhaps washed down with a gin and tonic.

    Another from 2012.

Views: 20,858 ! I checked it comes up in searches first on Google. How many of the 20,858 searched the title of this post ? Lots of foot shy people out there.

I found in the beginning the best thing was to start my day barefoot then I didn't feel barefoot like when first taking shoes off. Then I started just leaving them in the car in case I went someplace where I needed them.

This whole thing started several years ago now when I just decided to do an experiment to see if I could make my feet tougher and go without them like at least a billion other people in the world do every day.

The foot shyness goes away real quick and the whole awareness of "I am barefoot" goes away too. I am aware I am bare handed but I don't think of it. I used to hate taking my shoes off for barefoot situations but I had no idea how quickly it becomes so easy to navigate the world without them.

I have gone barefoot for as long as I can remember.
My experience has been very few people are interested in what are on your feet. The comments I have gotten are of the usually of curios sort. The reason I get an occasional comment or look is due to me carrying my sandals when I go barefoot. I carry my sandals in case I need to slip them on.
I was asked one time in a restaurant to put my sandals on because a customer was upset about my bare feet. I looked at the manager and said okay. I then told him my feet were still naked. He looked at my naked toes shook his head and walked away. I think he had the problem with my bare feet. I don’t eat there anymore.
If you are old enough to go to the casinos go barefoot. They only want your money. I have seen hotel security hassle only one person for what they were dressed in. The guy was wearing a bikini swim trunk bottom that showed everything and a pair of flip flops. He did have the chiseled body to pull it off. Plus he was sporting a nice thick package under the bikini swim trunks. He was s sight to see and everyone was taking a good long look.
You are going to find folks who are offended if you ware jeans and a tee shirt. Live your life and enjoy your self.

Terry is right. It's about living life and enjoying yourself.

I started going barefoot when I was 13. Before that, I was very shy about it. I wore shoes and socks everywhere, even in the heat of summer. One day, I had enough, and took 'em off. My parents hated it, but I refused to put on shoes and socks for anything other than school or church. Wasn't about to go back to how things had been. I go barefoot most of the time, and it's the natural, the default, if you will. Best decision I ever made!

So take off your shoes and socks, and enjoy life!

Agree totally! Our first time down in Florida we went all week bummin' around the beach, Wendys, Steak n Shake, even the souvenir shops, we were barefoot everywhere. It was beach towns from Jacksonville to Daytona in late spring and no one bothered us. I'm sure the high end places had dress codes & cover charges, but we kept the low end dive bars and had a ball. We blended in with every one else.....good times and no problems...

I also have trouble going barefoot around others, especially family or at home . Talking about it is good. The encouragement is great. Just not many want to talk about going barefoot. Several years ago I managed to start going barefoot openly. Thanks to an internet friend. I was doing so well, going barefoot all day on my days off. I was sort of ok being seen. It was actually exhilarating even though I still felt not at ease. I've relapsed now but want to get back into going barefoot openly at home. I need a friend to encourage me. I might be able to help someone else too.

    I have a crooked toe... :(

that said I don't have foot shyness. I wore Birkenstocks in high school and everyone saw my stupid toe. I don't know if anyone cared to call it ugly, but I hate it. I still wear sandals when it gets hot though. Not really barefoot, I know.

Google images has a photo of everything "white feet" no tan , lol like the tourists.

Anyway get a tan on your feet so they don't stick out.

Foot shy people think their feet look funny so they keep them covered causing them to look funny.

    "sock tan" image result lol

Those above pics are pretty good reasons to wear sandals and go barefoot.

I find not caring at all about being barefoot helps me overcome my shyness about being barefoot.

But I am never barefoot because its dirty and gross

I went through that same exact thing because whenever they would have water days at Kindercare, I would sit out completely because I hated being barefoot outside. Then, I went one time and I didn’t mind it, but didn’t develop a passion. At the end of 2019, I developed a true passion for being barefoot and started going barefoot in my room again and it skyrocketed all the way up from there to going barefoot whenever I get an opportunity. I even go barefoot outside when I’m home alone and hope to be doing that every day this spring. So yeah, just go barefoot and enjoy it.

Why you say about being home alone, what's the difference if someone of your neighbours or relatives are home too?

Well I was afraid of doing it when my parents were home until late November when I learned a technique for if I want to go barefoot outside.

Why are you so afraid of your parents knowing of your barefoot walks and what kind of technique was it? I'd like to learn myself. My parents always were very much against of bare feet
