How to dress like a "hippy"

every type of perosn has a steriotype yeah it sucks!
coz alot of the tie iots so far off the mark people get the wrong idea ant totaly miss the point

 

uh....tye die shirts are sterotypical, just bright colorful clothes, thazt are hella comfy, but why dress like a hippy when you can dress the way u feel, (ur probly thinking, i feel like a hippy)

 

i am usually wearing flared, faded jeans,leather belt with nice grateful dead buckle, worn in leather motorcycle boots (not like shiny black leather, they're faded brown leather with bootstraps, very comfortable and last forever), my earth color dark green/brownish cortouroye (sp?) jacket, a tye dye shirt or paisly like button down underneath, sometimes a jam band shirt, sometimes a vest with a paisly underneath, shoulder length unkept hair, beaded home made hemp necklace, aviator shades, and a floppy leather hat with a braided strand of leather around the part where the brim meets the part on your head. lol i like my style, mid sixty-ish

i don't know, but i don't dig the "new school" hippy look, like only big baggy patchwork pants, dreads, 4 million hemp necklaces and bracelets and anklets, hacky sacks and stuff, but i don't really care, whatever you dig you know? dress what you want to dress like, and what makes you the happiest and best self image. dont' try not to look like a hippy not to be cliche, do what you want. be you even if what you think your style is has been done before.

 

Yes, men decided women needed to shave, back in WWII when the men went off to war, advertising companies for razors and shaving products became directed toward women to keep in business... so it's really a marketing scheme that caught on..now the ideal is to be 'hairless'...
but let the hairy hippies prevail in all their natural glory!

 

Amen to that- let's see more hairy hippies- especially the women!

WELL.. dress like a hippie?! Humm.. how about just wear what you feel! as long as its comfy wear it! i don't wear jeans.. becasue i dont think they are compfy.. i don't shower everyday, i don;t shave anything, i wear patchouli, i burn inscents.. i shop at thirts stores.. and other than that my clothes are either, handed down from a friend or given to.. Remeber you can never trust a woman who wears her pants too tight i wear baggy clothes that dont match... wear socks when in need, usally dont match.. sometimes when i do laundry my clothes change color... so my clothes are multi- hah.. Just wear what you feel!! thats my moto..
if you have a pair of pants... make um "your pants" cut the sides-sew up some patches.. and sew um' in.. its funn!

so, okey, i've read throught the whole thread. and i cant seem to get it straight if im stereotypical(sp?) or not.. so okey, im just gonna explain myself.
i wear: tye-dyes(tons of them, i LOVE colors), patchwork pants, big pants, tye-dye pants, screaming BIG limegreen pants or just normal bellbottom jeans, crasy-colored headbands, 5 necklaces(they all have a special meaning), and i have dreads.
I am: vegetarian, and i dont get angry that often. i just take things cool, i LOVE to walk barefeet cause i dont like to wear shoes, i just have to wear them.
and i dont shave anything that often. it could happend, but im often to lasy to do it.

so, if you would meet me on the street one day, would you call me a hippie?

I'd forgotten for a long time what it was like to just chill out and inhale life. No more :sunglasse . Even when communting, I (mostly) stop growling at ppl cutting me off. As long as I get to work in one piece and my mind in peace, who cares about the rest.

Awwwwwwwww :& I can't fit anything in the thrift stores yet. Oh well. I do have a sewing machine and t-shirts are cheap.

When at work I have to wear "professional" clothes though I can get away with tie-dye. They just change the rules of what to wear (I work in a prison) so I can loosen up some more. I tell folks who marvel when I get something new and wear it to death "I'm not here to make a fashion statement, I'm hear to work."

That being said, think I'll wear a tie dye kurta to work At my job its what will get you through the gate not so much the style.

 

I really like that combination of colors in the clothing Rar1013, you definitly have a unique style of dress.

50p bargain!a green shirt with w leaf clovers all over it,that was 50p aswell!
and i got this brown wolly waistcoat thin,it rawks!
