Hey! I watch some of the drama too! Law and Order UK is brilliant.
I knew I was watching too much British tv when last week I actually said 'I don't give a toss' without realizing it. My hub laughed at me.

Yes, but how is that different to the media going on about Bidens age or Cheneys heart condition, come on dont vote for them theyll drop dead mid term. On the flip side no one is going to play Hillarys age in that way, and because she is female, no one is going to buy that there is a strong chance she wont make it through a term, BECAUSE she is female. So making fun of he grandma status is the next trick on the list, whatever trick gets punters to click on that news link

Back when she was first lady, do you think anyone believes Bill wasnt running to her with every little thing checking what he should do, she wasnt at least in part by proxy running the country anyway

As for what others have said about female politicians having to masculine it up, thats bullshit, name one. Politics is a mugs game, you ae going to get your life picked apart, every tool used to attack you.

Remember all the crazy effergies and memes Bush got when he was in office, if Hillary becomes Pres she wont get it at that level cos they know she has a brain, Bush was a moron. But if it does start happening when/if she becomes Pres it will only of course be because she is a woman?? Bullshit

Many Britons hate Thatcher with a passion, but is that becuase she was female, or because she was the only one that did have the "balls" to do what was necessary compared to the woosy PMs that came before and after her. Tony Blair was such a kissass, had his nose attached to Bush's backside most of the time, and the current one Cameron always looks like he's soon to wet himself if spoken harshly too

Hillary for Pres and Bill for first lady 2016, shes awesome

Actually people HAVE been talking about Hillary's age/frailty. I heard there were people (Karl Rove... if I'm remembering correctly?) commenting on the eyeglasses she had on. Trying to say she had brain damage.... had probably had brain surgery, etc.--- Then there was something on the news a week or 2...there abouts--after that-it was some picture of Hillary somewhere... on vacation or something?-- Anyways all I remember specifically about it is people were saying "Was Hillary leaning against a walker????" and making a big deal about that. To which Hillary or someone answered that no, she was leaning on a chair. So, no, not mentioning her age SPECIFICALLY.. but def age specific things coming up.

And the grandkid thing is a bit different then all of that though, btw... simply because anything with women and children will be commented on but it would never ever even be brought up-be an issue at all- w a male. No one mentioned Romney's grandkids at all...and how many does he have?? (It's just different because it's just some stereotypical thing that women get judged and/or talked about regarding kids... whether they have them, don't have them, stay home with them, go to work with them, etc., etc....and on and on.)--- and yes it is a grandkid for Hillary but just the fact that it was mentioned is just so typical.

They are totally playing Hillary's age that way! Oh she's gonna be x age by the second term and never mind that there have been men older than her doing the same thing. Her last big interview included addressing the health and dementia bullshit that was spewed about her.

Thatcher...I don't know where to begin on this one and the way you've phrased things, I'm not sure you've looked at her deep enough because I see her as an example of what I'm talking about. She's a very good study in how gender politics/masculinization was played in both her rise, rule and fall. It could be a whole other thread.

then it comes down to your def of masculine, its not like she had to run around acting or talking like a guy to get there. Nicknamed iron lady cos she was a hardass, whats being a hardass got to do with masculine vs feminine

Cheney copped it worse than Hillary ever will in regards to health, jokes about the secret service having to carry around a defribulator vs Hillary leaning against a walking frame, whats the difference?

It would take a thesis to cover the topic. I'm not quite up to that.

There is no difference. That's the point. You said Hillary wouldn't get called out on age and health because she was a woman. We said that she already has been called out on her health and age.

Well, I see hierarchy, self-interest, and suffering as the stuff of life. And I am deeply sceptical of all utopia. So, if you want to "change the world", I think the burden of proof is on you.
