Does anyone know of how you check to see whether the ESN/MEID is a good or bad ESN/MEID ? I know there are sites that claim to check it but what i really wanna know is how they get that information, cuz i'm curious like that.

LOL, yes, this would be the first site I'd go to for a question like that as well

I never heard of this shit until you asked, but since you asked, I'm going to try to pull and answer out of my ass.

so for folks who don't know (which until very recently included me)
So if this can be used to flag stolen or lost phones, I'm assuming there is a database somewhere of all of the MEID numbers.

I'm not sure if these places that claim to check it actually have access to such a list. In any case, if someone is going to check this for you for free, my guess is that they are going to try to collect some data on you that they can resell.

I don't think it's likely that there is any need to check your MEID unless you bought a phone used.

yeah, i know what the numbers are for, it just turns out that lost/stolen phones get their IMEI or ESNs put in a database so you can't activate them on the network. and that makes the phone pretty much worthless for most purposes

i have phone, wanna be sure its a good MEID before i sell it, and not blacklisted, cuz if its a bad IMEI/ESN it ain't gonna be worth much. still worth *something* maybe, but if you told them the MEID was okay and sold it as such they'd be pissed when they found out and think they got ripped off.

I'm sure you would be able to tell when you went to try activating it, but I don't really want to actually activate it. I guess I could pretend to go thru the activation process w/ sprint until they told me what i wanna know then cop out ;)
