To become a medical marijuana patient in Florida, an individual must first visit a qualified physician and receive a written certification that they have been diagnosed with a qualifying medical condition. In Florida, the following conditions qualify for medical marijuana treatment:
    • Cancer
    • Epilepsy
    • Glaucoma
    • HIV/AIDS
    • PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)
    • ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis)
    • Crohn's disease
    • Parkinson's disease
    • Multiple Sclerosis
    • Medical conditions of the same kind or class as or comparable to those listed above.
Once the individual has a certification from a licensed physician, they must register with the Florida Department of Health's Medical Marijuana Use Registry. The process includes the following:
    1. Submit a completed application form, which can be found on the Florida Department of Health's website.
    2. Provide a valid government-issued ID and proof of Florida residency.
    3. Pay the application fee.
    4. Submit the physician certification.
Once the application is approved, the individual will receive their Medical Marijuana Use Registry Identification Card. This card allows the patient or their caregiver to purchase and possess marijuana for medical use from a licensed dispensary in Florida. It is important to note that possession, use, sale, or cultivation of marijuana for non-medical use is still illegal in Florida, despite the medical marijuana program.

Additionally, Florida law allows qualified patients to designate a caregiver who can assist with acquiring and using medical marijuana, so you can also consider getting a caregiver.

My wife just recently got her card. The process seemed pretty painless from what she told me. Surprisingly, she was allowed to go to thr dispensary the same day. I figured she would have to wait to get her card in the mail.

If only the feds would legalize it and allow CDL drivers to benefit from this wonderful plant.
