The movie "The Emerald Forest" has a great example. In the movie a man searches for his long lost son who has grown up in a primitive tribe and is about to marry. He argues with the chief of the tribe and insists that the chief should tell his son to come back to civilization with him. The chief just laughs at him and says, "How could I be chief if I told a grown man what to do?" Surround yourself with people who let you be you and you and return the favor if you wish to become an anarchist without being an anarchist. Mother Jones understood this and insisted her whole life that she was not an anarchist. Never join a club that would have you as a member.
I will also ask sometimes..."what do i do...What should I do?"....if it is someone's who thoughts i value, as sometimes I cannot connect the dots very well and get lost....and need some kind of guidance or pointers. I will eventually think for myself, though....
All week I have been finding much needed wisdom and reinforcement in the changes going on in my world right now. Thank you for this post. These words are undeniably significant to my life experiences right now.
We are never who we think we are and when we no longer make distinctions between who we are what we are doing we becoming poetry in motion and our thoughts belong to no one including ourselves. That is why it is so important to surround yourself with people who let you be you and to return the favor. This is what Taoists call "leading by following".
Mother Jones could not stop people from calling her an anarchist, but none could deny that when she lost her entire family to yellow fever and lost her livelihood to a fire she was still everyone's mother. I sympathize with her because that is how I became the Wu Li master.
