This 'through the years' TV advert for Heathrow Airport for me took me back to the day / times that subsequent generations may.would not recognise. BOAC? for under 30s - one wonders. In the times - when Black and White preceded, or at least was a a tangent with the expansion of Colour saw the 24/7, W.Wide IT and physically accessibility. As one gets older, how many times have I said to friends I have made, colleagues I have worked with and neighbours - "I remember seeing the Saturn 5 rocket blasting off from Cape Kennedy on it's way to the moon in 1969 - It was a great sight" ...."You mean Cape Canaveral?" - "I got 'half a crown' for my first tooth (Pre-decimal UK currency). - Ivan Lendel, oh the Tennis player? - No, the Coach Ah such are the 'Sign/s of the time/s"
Can't believe they never learned (until recently) about brain injuries from boxing & football. (the evidence was always there if they cared to look!) Poor Ali had to live with his brain injuries for decades...
Very True Skip - Although the conspiracy theorist in me notes that there is a difference in knowing, and doing something about it - and then -.(in a related topic) It is more profitable for pharmaceutical companies and the like to research, test and produce interim 'stop-gap' solutions than to actually cure
I think it's more a case of things coming back around again - the shame being that 'we' as a Nation, race . world never seem to learn
I remember when Heathrow was called London Airport. You had to walk out to the plane and could choose between BEA and BOAC. The terminal building was the old terminal 2 that has just been entirely rebuilt.
I was born spent a good degree of childhood in Wythenshawe - In the days when Manchester International Airport was plane ... sorry plain only "Ringway" One could have a day out to see the planes - take a picnic - oh so close to them and waving friends and family much nearer and/or if the weather was bad enjoy a meal in the Restrurant (And feel very Posh = )
george martin's character; havaland tuff, made an interesting reply to that. one a bit obvious perhaps. too many things that need to change don't, too many things that don't do. that wasn't his reply. just mine. and way too many people like to claim a cultural inclination to be a biological one.
Wolf angel---what you said is exactly what I said using the old French saying----The more thingS change , the more they remain the same." Most everything reoccurs and turn out in their own way--to be the same as what came before.
i remember heathrow having not yet been built. and considerable controversy over whether it would be a good idea to risk offending the spirit people by building it.
Concorde Wasn't Unsafe.......The Big Prang Happened When A Tyre Blew Out After Running Over Some Metal Object On The Runway........Then Bits Of Tyre Punctured The Fuel Tank...... This Could Have Happened To Any Large Jet Whilst Landing Or Takeoff. So In A Total "Knee Jerk" Reaction They Took It Out Of Service..........Sad..... Cheers Glen.
Yes something could have done about the advancement of air travel. Me thinks it's a matter of the participating jet companies pricing themselves right out of further interest. Just think of how much they charge to build each fighter jet. There's a reason our B-52s are over 50 years old and still in service... This might be something President Trump should negotiate. He is good at that...he did negotiate for a better deal on the Air Force One jet. Some here bust his balls just for his mere existence, but, he is saving our country enormous amounts of money. Maybe some don't want to hear that... Perhaps he can negotiate more on the business of air travel...he's spent the last year standing up for his associates from being under unnecessary fire constantly from Dems and the media. It's about time we start functioning as one nation with improvement as a purpose, instead of wasting bullshit time playing political games. This is the kind of shit that keeps improvement from happening. We have such great ability to improve air travel here, even worldwide. I believe other countries would co-operate.
Source? Trump Said He Saved $1 Billion on Air Force One Jets. The Air Force Doesn't Know What He's Talking About
