This is in comparison to Socialist and Communist economies. He's referring to market determined prices.

As if the US has free market. Thanks to RR, Bush sand T, the market is controlled by the wealthy, for the wealthy and by the wealthy. The Sherman anti-trust law was discarded long ago. The concentration of wealth in America is an international disgrace and differs little from the oligarch in Russia. Monopolies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Walmart have squashed competition and only accelerated the rise of the very rich.

As I write this Thursday night football is on TV….a production of Amazon. Every so often during the action a quick Amazon smirk flashes in front of the players…a subliminal message.

How much influence do you see consumers having over U.S capitalism?

The American capitalist system is a consumer economy. Consumers seem to have a big influence in U.S capitalism based on what they choose to buy or not buy. If you think Amazon is bad then buy from someone else.

The communist system strives to keep prices low in order to attract exports. Done fairly, it could work, but the reality is the people being unable to afford a good standard of living or buy imported goods, while the government controlled exports make the government rich.

The trade relationships between the UK and India have worked quite well since 1,600, with no real looser.
The relationships between the west and China are a disaster. The west get cheaper goods, which causes workers unemployment, While the importing companies can add a small percentage making millions, while providing no employment and hence no tax revenue for the government. In reality, from the countries standpoint they are parasites.
What is worse, is that their is no balance of trade or payments, so pounds, dollars and euros leave the country along a one way street, since China only imports a small percentage of what they export. Few Chinese people visit the west, so we get little back from the tourists.
With all the western monies that are valueless in China, their banks (owned by the CCP) buy property in the monies country of origin. China now owns about 30% of property in London. One of the last straws was when they took over Odeon, the company which I worked with for 35 years. Each of the 285 cinemas has a freehold land value of 35 million. Our government must be completely dozy.

One thing that few people realise, is that Donald Trump highlighted the problem, suggesting a 30 to 40% import tax.
Unlike the UK, the US parties are funded by the major corporations, so Donald had to go. The fake news started within days, leaving Donald powerless, since the corporations own the media.
Here in the UK, it was obvious what was happening. Many people here supported Trump, but we just had to stand and watch.

Capitalism / communism IS ruining and will eventually ruin the earth completely. Consumerism is the holy grail( of both systems) that has been pushed on humanity and will eventually have to be stopped in order for sentient beings to survive . Oh, I'll be long gone before the earth can no longer support the increasing inhabitants and the fight over the the diminishing resources. No one really wants to think about the results of the endless taking of resources ( ok--some do)from the planet ---because it's just too damn much fun to make money and buy the plastic shit that we've all been convinced that we need in order to be --successful. I was born into it like the rest of you and I enjoyed what I made moneywise and what I bought along the way--but at my age , I can no longer look away from what I believe will be the coming chaos stemming from the worldwide shortage of resources and the concomitant continual price hikes of the remaining resources and of course ,the desires of the extremely poor to just exist, let alone thrive. ( keep your powder dry--they'll be coming!) Evidently, nothing can dissuade consumers from the old , tried and true methods of the retail class of ---more--you need more. Oh well---so it goes. It's going to get REAL exciting for you young folks coming up.
(Donald trump is a very sick human being, just for your edification) And of course---BUY MORE---BUY MORE NOW!!!
