Actually I know quite a few people who are similar to me and my gf. Freegans, living an alternative lifestyle, punks who don't care about many and/or decent clothes.

I just bought some clothes the other day.
They weren’t expensive but here’s hoping I look passable in them.

Probably less than most people, because I am not someone to fall for the latest expensive fashion item.

    When I Moved Here 4 1/2 Years Ago I Threw Out Anything I Couldn't Fit Into.....Arrived With

One Pair Of Jeans.....Four T-Shirts......Four Hoodies......No Underwear... :p ..One Handkerchief......

One Pair Of Speedo's.......And No Shoes Or Socks.......Things Haven't Changed Much Since Then

But I Added......Two Fleecy Lined Trakk'y Dak's.....A Pair Of Jeans......Two Pairs Of Cargo Pants

And A Very Heavy Fleecy Hoodie To Wear In My Convertable In Mid Winter.........When I Show

People Through My House.....They Peek Into The Walk In Wardrobe And Say GLEN..... Is That All

The Clothes You Own...???...Then They See The Wall Of Pidgeon Holes For Shoes.....Totally

EMPTY... :D .....And Raucous Laughter Can Be Heard Echoing Off The Walls..... :D

    Cheers Glen.

    Three relevant considerations.

    1. I worked in the suit-and-tie world for over 30 years, and I now have only one set of dress clothes, which I wear only at weddings and funerals. I happily dumped the rest of my formal business clothes as soon as I gave up that kind of work, work environments in which my advancement, responsibility, pay and bonuses were certainly tied to how I looked and dressed, what sort of visual image I projected. People really do get paid more money and get promoted for being tall, being well groomed, and dressing well. Sure, attitude, initiative, teamwork, sound judgment, critical thinking, bright ideas, honesty, luck, and actual skill are important, but if money and position are important to you, it's a really good idea to look good also.

    2. Most of my clothes were destroyed in a flood in 2010, and I found no reason to replace most of them. The flood was a terrible experience, but great for streamlining my possessions. It turned out that very few of the things destroyed were really worth cherishing. Some were, but not many, and certainly none of my clothes.

    3. I live in a temperate climate - hot summers and very cold winters, lots of snow. Other than outer clothes necessary for survival and comfort in extreme cold, I wear only two things: cargo shorts and t-shirts in warm weather; and cargo pants and hoodies in cold weather. I really need nothing else. I have very few clothes, and I just pick whatever's on top of the pile each day, with the only consideration being the weather forecast, so really two piles.

We own two homes. One north and one south. The amount of clothes I myself have between the two places may only fill one set of dressers. I have two dress shirts and dress pants at each place. When my wife does the weekly clothes washing I usually only have one pair of pants, a shirt and socks.
