I gave up Google searching posing the question in all different ways like saying without shoes instead of barefoot. I guess the good news is the huge number of results for pages promoting bare-footing but I found no answer. Surely some anthropology study asked this question. I don't know.
I googled “how many people world wide have no shoes?” The answer was between 300 million and a billion. Theses folks are in extreme poverty according to the source.
We're talking about hundreds of millions of people in the developing nations alone, mostly because of poverty, but that's also why their cultures are more accepting of bare feet. That, and the climates in many of these places are just wonderful for barefoot, so why bother with shoes?
Yes it is wonderful to be barefoot and yes why wear shoes being barefoot is the best thing in the world !!
We tend to overdress in our culture. It's not good for our bodies to be overheated. Not only do our feet get too hot, but most of the clothing available to us is way too thick for the climate we live in. That's why I pay no attention to fashion and wear what fits the temperature. Around home a sarong and a fish net shirt are often called for. I don't fight nature for the sake of the matrix.
Maybe the poverty prevents people from falling into the shoes trap buying them but if extreme poverty was the cause they would likely be naked too but they all seem to have shirts and shorts. What I have noticed is in many documentaries local people seem put footwear on just for the cameras. I made a thread about it I think that documentary about climbing cliffs to get those bird nests for birds nest soup. I just can't believe people who climb sheer rock-faces barefoot would wear footwear for protection to walk out to the boat to get to that island and on the boat ride then take them off to climb the side of cliffs. No one who regulary wear shoes is cliff climbing barefoot. Who ever directed that documentary I think had them put footwear on. The shame of barefoot like its bad or something I guess.
A lot of people think going barefoot is bad for your feet but it’s not it’s good to go barefoot . Shoes hurt your feet and causes foot problems!!!
I live in a Florida beach town, thinking you could guess who lived here their whole lives vs northerners by looking at their feet and the amount of shoe damage. The tourists its obvious, bright white tan-less feet haven't seen the sun since last summer if ever and all the shoe deformities. My crooked toe left foot corrected itself alot after years of going barefoot. Too late by the time I really noticed was still growing as a teen. Some barefoot activists wrote that kids shoes should have warning labels if they their shaped the way that causes deformities.
Shoes should have warning tags on them because shoes do a lot of harm on your feet . Our feet were not meant to be in tight spaces t they are meant to be free and be normal .
I wore Reeboks for many years. Big mistake. I noticed the pointed toes and questioned it, but the package had a recommendation from the American Pediatric Association so I trusted them. Again ........BIG MISTAKE!
