How many of you just want to slap on a backpack and wander

I always see little roads around town or when I'm on vacation with my family, and I always want to see where they go. But, thus far, I never have. I used to live right next to this one mountain, and I always wondered what was on the other side. I never actually went to the other side, but I learned that there was a millitary base there. But that's not the same as seeing it.

There's a poem in Return of the King. It describes me perfectly:

Around the next bend there may wait
A new road or a secret gate
And though I oft' have passed them by
A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the moon, east of the sun.

 

What do you need a backpack and equipment for man? Nature is there to help you, all you gotta do do do is push pineapple shake the tree and there, you have a meal.

ive thought about this soooo much, im gonna buy one of those old people vans, you know, the ones that go to hospitals and nursing homes. it has to be diesel so i can make it into a biodiesel car and put a couple beds in it, not really wondering like on foot but i like it.

 

right on! I wish I could do that so bad! one day I'm going to grab a sleepingbag, a few lighters,a tarp, and a friend and just go live out in the woods somewhere for a few months

 

I've been on disability on and off since September. I'm not entirely sure what I want to do when it ends, but I know what I don't want to do: jump back into the rat race. I am much more spiritual and I just don't have a strong motivation to be rich. I want to have experiences - lots of varied experiences in life. I dont even know that I want to back pack as much as I want to help form an alternative society. I think American society sucks and is just incredibly destructive.

 

Oh yeah, for sure. I'll probably do it at some point in my life. Everybody needs an escape...or to find themselves or what ever you want to call it. Some ways are more subtle than others but the time will come when i will have to just take off

My life didnt take me where i planned i guess cause once upon a time i planned on traveling and when i was 17 my x husband met this really cool hippie chic and tied her down...now 13 years later im divorced with kids... so the travelingthing will have to wait... but when im older and my kids are gone im outta here. of course i have a van i travel here and there but not for long before i am back home with the kids...my youngest is 1 oldest is 12 im 30 soooo i will be at least 48 before I could do anything like that.... can't leave the kids for that long.. so in 18 years when you run into a long grey haired ole hippy chic traveling across the country come sit with me a while and ill roll us up a treat......

 

oh i absolutely will but dont let the kids stop u, travel with them you can give em amn experience growing up that they might neverr have had

 

so the other day a friend brought me by an ole hippy friends house and as we sat outside in the fresh air.... (before this darn snow came back) i seen he had a camper for sale. he said he would take 200 bucks for it. I seen so much potenial in it and thought it would be easy to fix up and tow behind my van. It has a nice base coat on the outside and the inside is totally gutted. It doesnt leak and is all ready to be refinished.They thought i was just off in space cause i was high but i was thinking of what i would do with it if i bought it. I have a few ties here but mostly tired of it all.... the town the drama and i just quit my job bartending so i really dont have to stick around except my son alex's dad is the best dad i have ever met. So its kinda hard to leave unless i could get him to take him during the summer and me the rest of the year. the other kids dads are less than fatherly so they would be fine if we all left.... I have a house here and everything and i just am not happy with material.... I thought i just might take cabinets and things out of my house and redo the camper and just leave the house. i dont really even care for the house. It is very nice but who needs a house right??? and if i took things from my house to redo the camper it woudl be very nice. My van also has a bed in it. but then it went back to the fact that i have alex with a daddy that would hunt me down to be with his son and he is a good daddy and has the right. so the camper still sits at the guys house and I might buy it anyways. i jsut thought that in michigan you dont want to camp in the winter but travel to the warmer states in the winter and you could camp all year long. what would it be like to just leave and never come back...

 

dude that ecacly wat i was goin to do buti like have an elcetic guitar so im not lugin that around get this i live in south fl i was gonna walk up the coast line then go in gorgia and hike it ohhhhhhhh i so badly wannted to go to goodstock ahhhhh that would be the life my freind an acustic a pack of energy drinks and a tent a nd thats all i need ,ooohhh yeaaaa
