How many of you just want to slap on a backpack and wander

Ohhh this sounds very appealing!

 

Yes! There's times especially when I'm hiking that I don't want to go back to the car, just want to walk and keep walking as far as I can. Sometimes my partner decides to go on random drives, where we take a left, then a right, then a left, so on with no destination in mind. Those are fun to, especially at night.

I think that sounds wonderful! Especially with the virus that's going on, getting some fresh air every once in awhile sounds like a marvellous idea!

 

I sometimes think I'd like to backpack the entire Colorado trail -- all the way from Denver to Durango -- just to get away from civilization while that's still possible. It's been a long time since I've been backpacking.

 

Hopefully retiring in next few months. Once the world gets back to some sort of normality. Myself and my wife intend to fly to Singapore then backpack around South East Asia for 2 to 3 months and if we enjoy it we may come back the next year. We may also try island hopping round the Caribbean. Then across the United States. I would also like to try South America.

 

Don't mean to sidetrack this, but I started at the beginning of this thread and found it kind of interesting and sad in a way. So many folks that I enjoyed and followed--some on for 2 years and some on for 10 or more--just disappear and never come back. You old timers here will know what I mean if you go through this old thread.

Back in 1970, I bought a backpack , trail food,etc and was going to hike the Pacific trail. Got sidetracked by some fellow hippies who wanted to camp across Canada and I did that. Never made the trail and now--too old , I suppose.

 

During the infamous Warring States period in China, all of the corruption and endless wars encouraged many to become mountain men, a hard life with a short life expectancy. Academics have the lowest reproductive rates of any profession, and don't appear to comprehend humanism, evolution, or where babies come from. Conservative Americans have the highest rates of suicide, rape, divorce, alcoholism, and child abuse, but when I've mentioned these simple facts to either one and go into elaborate detail of exactly how they are killing themselves, they accuse me of spreading hate and intolerance by suggesting sharing their words and playing nice are the solution. I'd say dying on the road is not necessarily any better or worse, than anything else Americans are doing to themselves and each other these days.

Hopefully, at least a few will find their own path.
