    a) Marijuana is a depressant. http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/BHCV2/bhcArticles.nsf/pages/Cannabis_marijuana?OpenDocument

    b) You are right that a depressant does not relate to depression, but they tend to coincide.

    c) To be more clear, marijuana promotes inhibitory behaviour. It does not chemically inhibit your brain, you are right.

I know many people who simply can't function without smoking pot. Can't eat, can't sleep, can't think clearly even. They become irritable, moody, and depressed, because they can't sleep, etc. I would consider that to be an inhibition. Their ability to function normally is being inhibited by the habitual abuse of marijuana.

    d) I was referring to the 'off-time' effects as well as being high.
The point I failed to get to was that when a person like I described starts reflecting on their life and how pot is affecting it, it can be pretty depressing. I can relate to Caterpillar, because I often feel this way too after over doing it. The good thing about it is that it is a natural method of self-preservation. Your mind is telling you that it's not happy how things are going. The trick is to listen.

    The Caterpillar: I found this...
"In fact, marijuana is a bit of a weird drug when it comes to tolerance because THC, the active component, actually stays in your body and bloodstream for some time after the psychological affect is gone (as in days, weeks or even longer)."

One thing you might consider to help you along would be to flush out your system.
I used to fast once a month to help clean out my system from pot. Mostly so I could enjoy that rookie feeling again. I felt it made a difference.

stoner bill is right i guess

wont make me anxious or depressed if I have 0 responsability for the next week or sometn,. and nothing bad on my mind...but it just amplifies already anxious thoughts. It can be like an amplifying glass on whats bugging me, like most hallucinogen drugs or however you call em, it depends on set and setting, much less than a shroom or lsd trip but more than stimulants cocaine or speed then the last much more than depressants, benzos whatever, this you could care less where you are or how shitty you feel it just does what it does.

but I I have trouble sleeping if im not stoned...and My mind runs around all day and pot relieves this a bit. kinda like nickelbag said, and deprressants relieve this too...but still on hallucinogens your thoughts slow down , but become more fucked up, like pot does to me, and benzos dont
